We had a party of 5, total, for lunch. My son and I arrived before our friends got there. We waited to be greeted but no hostess in sight. A lovely bartender asked us if he could help, I told him we were waiting for our friends, he said to please grab a table (literally half of the tables were empty) so we took a 5-seat table. A server came to our table and brought us water. Our friends arrived a min later, and the hostess (manager?) came over and RUDELY and coldly asked us how we got the table. I explained. She asked, again, RUDELY if we were planning to have food. We said yes. I was completely embarrassed in front of my friends who were in town visiting us. The hostess asked if we had any allergies. My friend said, "I have a tree nut allergy, but only if ingested." This has NEVER been an issue at any restaurant they'd been to in the week they'd been visiting. The hostess asked, "Is it severe?" My friend said, "What do you mean by severe?" The hostess could not explain, and then RUDELY, and COLDLY told us she could not serve us food and walked away without giving us (even the kids) menus. I saw her go and reprimand the LOVELY bartender. We ordered drinks. I approached the hostess and said I wasn't sure if we got off on the wrong foot with how we obtained the table, etc. She changed her attitude immediately but a bit condescendingly. I said we wanted to order food, as we clearly had two children with us. She brought menus to all of us except my friend. I felt awful. We had not experienced this kind of treatment in any kind/caliber restaurant before, anywhere. The drinks and the kids food and the fries were delicious, however, so compliments to the cooks. The bartenders were again, LOVELY. Even if we lied about the allergy, the hostess (I hope not manager) was already beyond nasty, and it's clear by other reviews she's like this all the time, and shouldn't really work...
Read moreWas so excited when a friend made a reservation for my birthday here. We were greeted by a nice guy who warmly welcomed us.
Then the experience changed to the worst… a woman manager came out of nowhere demanding whether we would order or not. We had already ordered a round of drinks and had already told the waitress twice we would be ordering when another friend arrived. Our friend arrived and we ordered. I asked to keep a menu (for the drinks to order more later) and the waitress accused me of trying to steal it. I said I wanted the drink menu for later…
Later on, I asked the woman manager for another beer and she got annoyed and rolled her eyes. Two people ended up bringing that one beer I ordered, and she yelled at me and accused me of ordering a beer with two different people. I did not and had only ordered from her. This manager kept turning around and giving us a look to leave. I’ve never gotten an evil eye for having dinner before.
The waitress tried to take my food twice before I was done. It was clear they were trying to get people in and out. The woman manager was so rude and treated us like cattle. I have never been treated like that. Usually establishments want you to order more and enjoy yourself. We had had a reservation for over a month for this special evening. It was very disappointing.
The food was pretty good, but I just wish I could have enjoyed it and my second beer I had to chug. I understand this pub has grown in popularity and they want as many customers as possible, but no one should be treated like this. Especially having a reservation. I hope this is brought to managements attention and no one else is treated like this. Many people were so...
