You don't expect much from a Travelodge, but there's a minimum standard and this one fails to live up to it. Staff at the front desk are friendly enough but they're overworked, being left to do two jobs, front desk and manning the bar, solo before it even gets late. This is a management issue, not an issue with the staff. I stayed here for two nights and they only activated my key card for one, and when I had to go down to get it reactivated when arriving back the second evening, they put the wrong room number on it because they'd had to rush to get back to the queue at the bar. When I arrived in the room it didn't look like it had been hoovered, in fact the whole first floor looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum in some time. There were also signs that the bathroom had only been cleaned very quickly, if at all. The morning after the first night I put out my "please top me up" sign to replace the towels and tea/coffee AND specifically asked at reception of they could vacuum the room. When I arrived back, 14 hrs later, nothing was replenished nor cleaned and the hanger was still on the door. The lighting in the room is cool and harsh, or doesn't work, the USB charging sockets by the bed don't work, the window is a sealed unit that doesn't open, when you have a shower, the curtain doesn't stop water going everywhere. Despite the sealed window, it doesn't keep the sound out. This hotel must be under the eastern approach to Heathrow and is right next to Vauxhall station so l, combined with poor soundproofing to the neighbouring rooms and hallway, there's continued noise until late at night, resuming pretty early in the morning. I can't remember the last time I had a worse night's sleep in a hotel.

This place is an upgraded version of a 'regular' Travelodge. The room we were assigned had a few extras like a pod coffee machine as well as a kettle.. a couple of kit kats and hot chocolate sachets for bonus points, and so many power outlets and usb charging points including by the bed (which is usually not the case). There was also an iron and ironing board in the room and a hair dryer. The room was well lit and there were lighting controls on the headboard. The only thing that didnt work was the dimmer. It could turn the lights on and off but couldn't dim. The bed was comfortable. The shower was easy to use and had a fully adjustable showerhead on a hose, unlike some of the older Travelodges. They do have family rooms for those travelling with children, but we had a regular room. The room temperature was just right and i could see there was a built in fan/heater but I didn't use it. This place also has a bar open 24/7 and serves food at meal times. They also offer a full breakfast buffet option (which also isn't standard for most travelodges). There are plenty of tables and some 'work benches' with plenty of power outlets. There is also a vending machine for convenience (like at most travelodges). The location is very convenient just across from Vauxhall station & under. There are bus stops right outside also. There are plenty of food options in the vicinity and a small supermarket also. I would stay here again. Suitable for families, couples and business travellers.

We made a group booking at this hotel (for close to 40 people) and unfortunately our experience was awful. The cleanliness of the rooms was the biggest shock for us. The photos of the rooms on the website look clean and new, and what we were met with was not reflective of what was being advertised. The bathrooms and showers were dirty (see pictures of brown sludge), many rooms smelled of mildew, some of the bathrooms flooded (to the point where the water almost overflowed onto the carpet), and there were stains on the carpets and bedsheets. With regards to service, several of our group paid for WIFI that never worked, the staff were apathetic, and we had several communication issues when it came to storing our bags, and even just getting checked in was a challenge (couldn't find our booking etc.). The basement rooms were the last straw and completely unacceptable. They were musty, damp, loud (you could hear the trains every few minutes) and not to mention the view of a cement wall with a moat of water around it. On top of all of this, we were charged at least 85-100 pounds MORE for our group-booking rooms than they were charging for other rooms. We have proof of this, as some of our group paid the regular rate to switch to another room that was cleaner and not in the basement. Sending concerns to customer service has proved to be ineffective. For your own comfort, sanity and well-being, please do not book this hotel.

Booked a 5 night stay and paid for the extra add on of wifi. Chose this place as good location for public transport and near our friend we were visiting whilst travelling overseas

This is how our current stay is going

After a 20hr international flight we had no towels or floor mats in the room. Not a big issue except you have to go to reception to ask for what should have been in the room as there is no phone and wifi was not working so could not call reception

Wifi that has been paid for is still not working 3 days into our stay even though we paid extra money for this. On speaking with reception on 2nd day they advised that everyone in hotel is complaining about it and there is nothing they can do. They have called the provider whom advised is all working and they have reset the modem with no resolution. I asked them for a refund on the two rooms booked and was told I had to call this provider on a number to seek reimbursement from them. Firstly I am not from England or Europe so to call an international number would end up costing what I was seeking as reimbursement. Secondly I paid Travelodge not some third party. Travelodge should reimburse me their client. Also they should remove the option to purchase internet and take it off of the website as being a wifi available hotel as is not true. FALSE ADVERTISING

On entering room although it looked clean we could smell a dirty feet or wet sock smell which after 3 nights has gotten worse and is currently smelling like vomit, as no windows cannot air out the room. Went to reception to ask if we could change rooms and was told as is after 12noon they could not accommodate as they would not be able to clean our current room by check in time. Looking on the website there are rooms available so not sure why this could not be accommodated when not fully booked.

As is Summer we have to use the air con due to room being smelly and warm and having no windows. Aircon is so dirty, looks like it has never been cleaned. Reverse cycle split systems should be cleaned professionally as can harbour bacteria and germs. I have added a picture of the issue to my trip advisor review

This brings me to the fact that my partner started feeling unwell and worsened today with symptoms of Sore throat, cough, fever, headache and body aches (we have done a covid test and that is all clear). I myself have started to show same symptoms. This I believe is a MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE and RISK TO CUSTOMERS STAYING AT THIS LOCATION

Again a room change could not be accommodated by hotel.

Either Travelodge the company has such strict policies the staff are not able to provide the clients with a good service or the manager on duty on 20/08/23 just doesn’t care as could not even be bothered to come out and speak with me to address issues even when I was being polite to the lovely lady on the desk whom went to convey my request to move rooms due to above.

I feel sorry for the staff that are surely dealing with many unhappy customers and a supervisor/manager not assisting in resolving complaints.

THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER HOTELS TO STAY AT IN LONDON

The good:

Reasonable size room, which was clean. The room seemed reasonably quiet and the curtains were block out. A fan in the room. Lovely large towels. The location of hotel excellent-close to buses and underground which made getting around easier.

The bad:

Staff appeared indifferent to us when we interacted with them, a few were slightly more helpful than others. The first room we were given on the first floor had a broken bathroom door handle and the window overlooked the large bus station. We felt we would be unable to open the curtains (no light net curtain behind the block out curtain) without people being able to look directly into our room.

We politely asked if it was possible to change to a higher floor, we were told yes but they could only give us a room on the second floor as those 2 floors were family or triple rooms (we had booked a triple room). We accepted and moved to a room on the second floor. Again we still felt the people at the bus stops (it was a busy bus station and had a large number of people at various times) could see in our room so we mostly kept the curtains closed which was a shame. It made the room feel smaller and a bit more claustrophobic. It was also very hot in the room at times, we struggled to get the air con to work so made use of the fan which really helped.

On the first day after we arrived we put the sign (for refreshing towels, emptying bins, refreshing tea/coffee/milk and more toilet rolls if required) on the door at about 9.30am (the sign states it must be before 11am). When we came back that night we had been left fresh towels, the old ones had been left in the room and nothing else had been done.

On the second day we again put the sign out at about 10am. When we came back the sign was still hanging on the door and no one had been into our room at all. I went to reception and again politely told the staff member what had happened. I barely got a grunt in response, she handed me a box to help myself to milk, handed me tea bags and 1 toilet roll. I asked for one more as we literally had none left. Again a grunt in response and handed it to me. No apology, no explanation and then she walked away.

On the last day (check out was 12pm) we heard a knock at the door and someone say housekeeping at about 10.30am. We explained we were checking out soon and did not require anything. Even on going to check out, we were bluntly told put the room keys in the box and that was it. No did you enjoy your...

My overall experience of the hotel was mediocre. Upon arrivial, the staff were welcoming and we had to sort room service which took a proportional amount of time, but caused no drama. On the first afternoon out of 3 was good with the expected room space and service with everything remaining intact. Although, this continued to decline in which, the morning breakfast service staff were unorganised as there were plates unavailable to the entire remaining people waiting for breakfast, but it was also difficult to identify who was the waiter at the time, with the execution of the schedule being marked by room numbers and not being directed to any seats or foods even at such a busy time.

Upon arrivial for the afternoon of the second night, food menu's were practically disorganised in which the suggested meal deals were not as listed in which this led to long term convesations with myself and the staff about what is expected when customers rely on the menu to order. As well as this, the shower water temperture that night was lacked basics in which the knob to change the temp was broken and caused overall cold water throughout more than one room.

The last night of my stay at this hotel was the worst, as the food we planned to order wasn't described properly, in which the light snack selection of nacho's was served cold to which the nacho's nor the cheese we even slightly warm but rather just like being taken out of the fridge, this resulted in a bad meal ending to the night and a waste of valuable money. Related to this matter, the staff simply replied with either not working here often, shortage of overall staff (This was just 4 days after christmas) or that's not how they do the food here.

Overall, I would say the staff were disorganised, not supportive, and the hotel had lack of standard for the money being put into, to give fundamental properties required for a postive short stay. I would...
