Overall, this venue has gone downhill in the last two years. The customer service is the primary cause but the food is secondary.
My most recent visit I visited this venue with a friend for lunch, we had headed elsewhere but there was a private event on. Upon walking in a nice waitress asked if we had a ooking, we said no we were just grabbing some lunch and a drink. She stated that a table was free and not reserved so we could have that, great.
The food We then proceeded to order, I grabbed the nachos my friend fries. The guacamole and sour cream on the nachos was like liquid, it's like too much water was added and blended to a perfectly smooth finish, not what you would usually expect. The salsa tasted slightly rancid, I suspect it was very much on the edge of going off. Needless to say I tried to scrape off some of the liquid to the side but I got about half way through eating and gave up due to the rancid taste. We were asked if we wanted desert but declined, still partially through our beers.
The customer service We were just sat there still eating and drinking and another staff member (lady) put a reserved sign down (15 minutes notice before it was reserved) There wasn't any engagement, no apology, no notice, just slid onto the table and they walked off. Five minutes later we asked for our bill to the nice first waitress (wearing black) and she went off to get it. Maybe 10 seconds later the other lady came back saying the table was reserved soon so we had to get our bill, we confirmed we had already asked for it. The lady in black came back with the bill and we paid, still with our drinks half filled ish. No less than a minute later the bloke with striped shirt came up to us and said "our favourite customers have reserved this table can you need to move to the bar" Noting we still had 10 minutes before it's reserved, but he stated they were early. I'm sorry but you sat us down, we still had our drinks and then you randomly reserve the table with 15 minutes notice not even telling the customers sat down (just sliding on a reserved sign) and then you start trying to get us to leave. The customer service was awful.
Ways I'd improve Look into the food, why was guacamole and sour cream like liquid? Test sauces like salsa to make sure they've not gone off or close to thus having a negative flavour for customers. Identify customer service improvements, don't ignore your customers and slide on a reserved sign, then explain to them how they have to leave for your favourite customers, and to do this earlier than the sign you...
Read moreIt's such a lovely place 💕 If you want to feel you're at home but with a professional and friendly treat, that's the place you should go. I'm giving them not just 5 but 10 starts.
First of all, they have a wonderful view of Thames, Westminster Parliament, and Big Ben.
The second thing that I love about this place is decoration. They always have big flowers -mostly lilacs- everywhere inside the pub. It's so romantic 😍 They even have a big vase full of massive lilacs in ladies' toilet. The toilet is always clean, smells lovely, and looks so chic with those massive lilacs.
As a local person, I nearly tried all the menus and never disappointed about the taste of food. Everything is so delicious and portions are so big. My favourite is Sirloin Steak. They also have a wonderful Sunday roast menu (chicken, pork, and beef), and honestly, I've never seen such big portions like that. The place not only has wonderful steaks, beef burgers, fish, and chips, but also they have delicious vegetarian and vegan options. We'll done to the chefs 👩🍳. And they close the kitchen around 10.00 pm, so you can have a late dinner here.
Their drinks menu also very good. Besides beers, they have plenty of main and signature coctails, and because bartenders are really professional, you'll always get the perfect cocktails.
Again, as I'm a local person and spent so many times there, I know they are very clean. The staff are very friendly, even managers are so nice. I can say that I found the managers' behaviour to the staff is really good as well. They all deserve 10 stars, they deserve the service charge, and even good tips.
So, don't hesitate to go there. You'll always have a good time in a nice atmosphere, perfect dinner or lunch, or...
Read moreWe visited The Rose on a few occasions last year while we were holidaying in London. We were staying at the nearby Park Plaza hotel, which meant less than a two minute walk to The Rose.
Me and my partner got the following on the few occasions we visited The Rose:
Fish & Chips (absolutely beautiful fish, thick flaky texture, lovely batter which tasted like a proper English fish & chip shop fish & chips). This also came with a large pickled onion and mushy peas. The chips were proper fried chips (i.e. they were not the usual frozen chips that you seem to get nearly everywhere now). We could not fault it and it was worth the price.
On another occasion we got the Shrimp Pattie burger with chips. Neither myself or my partner had ever seen this before and by the description of it on the menu, we were very keen to try it. It was absolutely beautiful. Lovely sweet shrimp meat and it tasted divine. The bun was from what I can remember a brioche bun. Neither myself or partner had, had a brioche bun before and we absolutely loved it. It was much, much nicer than the usual sesame buns you tend to get with burgers. Again the chips were proper chips (i.e. they were not the usual frozen chips that you seem to get nearly everywhere now) and the chips were absolutely beautiful, lovely and crispy and exactly like you would get at a good English fish & chip shop.
We are planning on coming back to London and staying in the same hotel again this year, and we look forward to eating out again in The Rose. Beautiful food, good portion sizes, quick service (despite it been busy on at least one occasion) and friendly staff, and considering it is London, the prices were reasonable too.
All in all, we can’t wait...
