Ok so I had such high expectations for this place like vegan Sunday roast options ofc they’re gonna nail it, idk maybe my expectations were set too high, we got there 3.15 order taken around 3.25 drinks came quick and they were nice service was quick and lovely too, at the 40 min mark we asked what was happening with the food, im making a fair assumption judging to the menu they only run Sunday roasts on Sunday and still it took at least 50 mins for our food, waiter said it got stuck behind a big table but there were no big tables for the whole time we were there??? The whole pub is like 50 covers and they were not at full capacity at the time, roast came out so mid like I was so disappointed where was the effort into the carrots and and the vegan chicken was no where near the best vegan chicken I’ve had like so mid aswell ahhh I wanted to love this place so much then when I mentioned it politely to the staff they didn’t care nor even like apologise just said ok like I hate being this person but I work in hospo and like the whole experience really disappointed me like aren’t we trying to get people into veganism not turn them off it??? Guys the reviews were so good and then no one cared we waited 50 mins like at least appogise and notice it then it was not worth the wait???? Aren’t you trying to keep these reviews up???? Like a roast takes 20 mins max to prepare if you’re fully booked and have most things pre cooked almost ready to plate especially with that little of tables I get it if you were down kitchen staff but there was no transparency and I felt like they lied to us about the reason of the wait and there was really no apology, 50 minute wait is diabolical with...
Read moreMy recent visit to Black Heart Pub for their vegan roast didn't quite meet expectations due to multiple service hiccups with Molly Kate, who was taking care of us. We ordered two pork belly roasts but got only one, and there was a mix-up with the cauliflower cheese - I asked for smoky, got truffle, which isn't my thing and triggers nausea for me.
When I pointed out the mix-up, Molly first insisted it was right until she checked and found the truffle in it. Sadly, no replacement or refund was offered for that. Also, despite a gesture for drinks, I declined as we were in a rush due to the meal coming an hour late. We asked if possible to take off the drinks we already ordered instead but were given a firm no.
Adding to the mishaps, my boyfriend's roast was undercooked. Molly promised a 50% refund but later said it applied only to part of the meal. We didn't even get 50% off of the part she was referring to (£18) as we were still charged (£11.50)?
When we tried discussing our dissatisfaction, Molly abruptly asked us to leave, accusing us of wanting a freebie, which wasn't the case. She even made an alarming comment to my boyfriend saying she was going to fight him????? The whole experience had incorrect orders, long waits, mediocre food, and a rather unwelcoming vibe. Quite disheartening for what should have been a pleasant vegan roast. I have seen so much buzz online to only realise as I am now home, all of the positive reviews were from influencers paid to review their food or gifted meals to review their food....
Read moreHate to think how long since I last visited the Black Heart, but popped in recently for a swift pint before heading to the Electric Ballroom. Hard to tell if it was open from the low key lighting and signage outside but it was, thankfully*. Similarly low key lighting inside (and no pump lights) made choosing a beer tricky but to the request "Lager please" the barman provided a very acceptable pint of Helles (brewer unknown). Unlike some nearby pubs, you can go outside to smoke with your beer, one main reason for me going there. Also unlike many nearby pubs it was relatively quiet at the time (19:00) which was ideal for getting served quickly enough to make the venue before doors! (Caution: I tried the same idea the day before but as it was a Sunday it was in fact too busy to get served quickly enough before the show - Camden does get very busy on Sundays in particular). A wide range of beers (judging only by the number of pumps-see above) the Black Heart boasts its own music venue upstairs, and although it has been a while since I last went to a gig there it was always a good little grungy rock venue ideal for heavier more boisterous acts... Always a great pit-stop, especially if you're heading to pricier non-smoker venues nearby. I'll certainly be back. *When I left I passed two blokes heading towards the Black Heart, one saying "Are you...
