The store is good and almost all the staff are helpful and polite however, one particular lady who's often managing the self checkouts has terrible customer service skills to say the least! She constantly talks like she has a chip on her shoulder. My most recent interaction with her has led to me making an oath to NEVER return to this store again!
The lady commenced her shift slightly after 3pm. When she took over her colleague, I could hear her already pouncing on the poor fella for not removing a handful of baskets. This was all in front of fellow customers which is unprofessional and made customers feel uncomfortable. As for me, I'd already paid for my items and the two bags I had purchased were put through the system by her colleague. Yet as I was leaving, in a shockingly crass manner she yells "you have to pay for those bags!" I was gobsmacked as she'd just started her shift as I was about to leave so I couldn't understand on what basis she'd make such an accusation in that manner, humiliating me in front of fellow customers. When I challenged her about this, telling her that she'd just started her shift and her collegue handed them to me. She yelled "listen I'm just doing my job". I didn't really want to cause much of a scene and said I'd show her my receipt but have endless heavy bags I'm carrying and need assistance in order to go through the bags in order to retrieve the receipt. The lady wasn't willing to help me find the receipt and told me to "put the bags down and do it myself." I was trying to explain how I dislocated my shoulder only 7 weeks ago and it's still not fully recovered but I couldn't get a word in edgeways. I eventually presented the receipt and asked her why she was being incredibly hostile and making an accusation with no basis for suspicion, when I'm a regular customer. She simply sighed, shrugged her shoulders and said she's "doing her job".
I have never been so humiliated in front of people in my life! I have lodged a complaint and am never returning to this store again. I have spoken to some friends as well as my sister who seem to have had similar experiences with the same lady. Such characters are damaging to the business and will drive away customers...
Read moreI used to occasionally shop in this Aldi. One evening as I was about to enter I realized I had no Covid-19 mask. No problem, I thought. Many stores, eager for business after the terrors of lockdown, generously dish out masks to customers who forget to bring one with them. (Masks can be a bit of a catch-22 situation. You have no mask with you, and you canât enter a sales premises without one. So, how do you buy a mask? Write on a piece of paper that you want one, wrap it around a rock, and hurl it through the shopâs door?)
I wonât have to be this primeval with Aldi, I thought. Iâll simply ask the nice black chap that is doing security on Aldiâs door and heâll give me one of the masks that Aldi surely has set aside for customers who are caught short. Even if they havenât masks set aside, I surmised, surely theyâd give me one and charge me for it as I paid for my shopping.
My request for a mask, though, was met with a snarled, viciously yelled NO. Quite aggressively, and somewhat incoherently, this thug security person told me I wouldnât be getting a mask. He was too vicious and aggressive for me to ask him whether it was Aldiâs policy to not give a penny-worth mask to a customer caught short, or whether he refused me because he disliked something about me.
Thatâs modern Camden for you. You go to a local Aldi or Sainsburyâs and get insulted and practically threatened by their staff, then you can take a short walk along the street and be abused and threatened again by thugs because you refuse to buy...
Read moreSized to meet your weekly shop needs. The quality of product is great and the prices are very competitive. In fact you may not have shopped at Aldi before but may know that your regular shop is always advertising telling you how it is now matching prices to Aldi. That says it all.
If you need to shop for quick party snacks this is the place to go... Good quality selection of party bites and a relatively generous selection of alcoholic drinks. The juices are great though not as extensive a selection as M&S (M&S is king for selection, but the Aldi quality and price more than compensates)
The fruit and veg selection is fine and though some fruit may need extra time to ripen once you get it home. This is much better though than having it threaten to go off too soon from purchase time.
The milk is great. It lasts well. I would recommend the "Filtered Milk" option which has an advertised 7 day freshness. I have had it keep well for longer.
Offers a variety of items, as well as the usual Aldi "Special Buys" section which has stock that seems to be refreshed at least every 3 - 4 weeks with new products. Visited once and saw children's toys, then visited again and saw a label printer (bought it ;) ) then later found gorilla tape (again, bought this). This is not at all confusing as the Special Buys section always has items of a similar type compartmentalised accordingly. The general floor space is otherwise the same (in case you are a memory shopper) as with most other stores of...
