5-Star Review for Britannia Pub & Restaurant - A Perfect Sunday Lunch Experience! Birthday đ
We had the most wonderful Sunday lunch today at Britannia Pub & Restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the ideal setting for a birthday đ celebration. The staff were incredibly attentive throughout our visit, anticipating our needs and ensuring everything was perfect.
The food was simply fantastic. We started with the artichoke soup and tempura prawns, both of which were beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. For mains, we tried a selection of Sunday roastsâboth the beef and pork were cooked to perfection, tender and rich, with all the classic trimmings. Every bite was delicious and comforting, exactly what youâd hope for in a traditional British roast.
The whole experience was seamless and enjoyable. Whether youâre after a special occasion or just a lovely Sunday meal, the Britannia truly knows how to make a lunch memorable. Highly recommended! * * * * *
P.S. Two members of our party required gluten-free options, and the Britannia wonderfully accommodated their needs. The gluten-free dishes were equally delightful, showcasing the kitchen's versatility and commitment to all guests.
P.P.S. The icing on the cake (!) was the surprise birthday candle presented with our pudding and coffee. It was a thoughtful touch that made our celebration even...

The space inside is certainly small, but being as it is tucked away on one of Richmond's quaint back alleys, the pub has a special feel about it. Helps too that the staff are hugely friendly - as hard a task manager as Ginger Dom is as a boss, he certainly knows how to entertain customers!
Food and drinks are certainly pricey (c.ÂŁ12-18 for a main course, c.ÂŁ5 for a pint of lager) - but this is to be expected for any Richmond pub, let alone one right by the Green.
They update the drinks on a regular basis, which I take to be the sign of a proper pub - think two or three real ales on tap, a large selection of wine, and about six choices of draught lager in the Brewdog / London Lager vein.
Great little garden with a terrace out back too for drinks during the summer. They also put on sports matches on a regular basis (England footy, Six Nations matches, etc), and the small confines of the pub means the atmosphere always gets buzzing on these occasions.
All in all - definitely worth a visit if you're down...
Read moreIâve had two meals here, because a friend likes it and wants to book it. As they arenât in London often, I agreed to it again, despite having a dreadful meal last time. No better this time. Starter of Mackerel pate was fine. Definitely no better than youâd make at home, on boring bread. Main course chips were stone cold. Crab fritters nice inside but tasted like cooked in rancid oil. Side salad was one to two lettuce leaves with three cheap, tasteless cherry tomatoes chopped in half and a ring of red onion chopped too thick to eat. Didnât get a pudding as expected that it wouldnât be nice, so got a hot chocolate which I sent back as it was just foam on a tiny bit of liquid. As per the food, the first and replacement drink took an age to come. Didnât complain on the evening as I see my friend so rarely, and I was starving. Would normally complain. The previous visit, I had blamed myself for asking for the Sunday roast on the Sunday evening- it tasted and looked liked it had been sitting on a heater all day. Iâm hoping not to have to go back. Nice decor &...
