My friend and I visited a restaurant on a Sunday hoping to enjoy a good Sunday Roast. The atmosphere was lively and the restaurant was busy, which made us feel like we had chosen a popular spot. Fortunately, we were able to find a table and place our food order. We both ordered the Sunday Roast; I opted for pork belly, while my friend chose beef. While my pork belly was crispy and delicious, my friend was disappointed with the beef. It was visibly raw, still bleeding, and consisted mostly of fat and gristle. Despite the busy staff and not wanting to complain, we had to send the meal back to the kitchen because it was inedible. When it was returned to us, we noticed that not much had changed; they had likely just reheated it for a few minutes and returned it. It's a shame because my friend ended up eating only the vegetables. I understand that the kitchen was likely very busy, but that's not the way to cook and serve meat. However, I'd like to thank our server, whose name I can't remember, for being very helpful, professional, and understanding and voided the beef roast from our bill. 🙏🏼 We might give The Crown another chance, perhaps just for drinks.

Let's start with the positive points... The location is great. Just next to the Victoria park and the Canal, both areas to have a nice walk after your Sunday Roast. The place itself is with nice atmosphere, authentic decoration and friendly vibe. The Sunday Roast was a disappointment (sorry). The beef was too hard like a sole, the potetos was okay ish. The Chicken Roast was better and the Veggi was the only one we can say was good. Prices are fair and competitive. The service is good, very friendly and caring. Last point that have to be said and I hope the place will take it to action: The place is using an external app for you to order your food to the table. I DON'T want to go to a restaurant, download an app, go with a whole process of registration including email, phone number, password etc... Just for me to order the food to my table. No way. And if you think to mention anything about covid etc... the printed page that advert this app to download was gave to us after switching at least three hands and the drink manus are on the table as casual. If I wanted to order food via an app, I'll use Deliveroo or JustEat.

The define themselves as a pub, however, the quality of their kitchen clearly takes them to the level of a full-fledged gastro-pub, an informal bistro', a casual brasserie. From the great classics, such as Fish and Chips or Steak and Ale Pie, to rarer items like the Partridge Sausages. Everything excellently prepared, cooked and nicely plated. Rustic ideas competently executed are never boring, never old-fashioned. An interesting and extensive wine-list would always allow you to find a proper paring for your meal choice. Biggest round of applause for the American gentleman that welcomed us, it has been a while since I have been served this nicely, in any restaurant or pub anywhere. A truly nice, positive person and a complete hospitality professional, essential in my opinion, in a city where so many pubs go for the completely impersonal treatment. A gem, right around the corner of Victoria Park. Kudos

You would never eat here if you knew they store and prepare the food. Veg and meat contaminiation they use one same pair of tongs for everything cooked raw meat vegitarian food all with same tongs. Items used out of date. Keep cooked things for over a week to be served again I have wittnesed things used for 2 weeks when it should if been 3 days they just change the date label. The date labels here are just to foul the inspector no other use.. The gravy sits on stove for 3 days without refrigiration. So as other food. Meat and raw fish and other foods left out all day in 32c kitchen just because she cannot tidy up as she goes and she likes things out for convenience. At the end of the day it goes in fridge to use it same way again tomorrow. Chips says fresh tripple fried lol they frozen chips that been sitting defrosted all day and cooked in black flithy oil. They keep all cooked and raw food in old used 10liter mayo backets that never get washed properly. They stack them dirty bottomed and use it again. Microwave everything sometimes up to 4 times! The head chef Malvina is scared of water. Never bathes all unkept untidy and smell of really bad body oudor every single day. I have never seen her wash her hands. Aline the manager like to come in touch customers food rearanging it she then lick hravy of her fingers and touch the food again. People working there have no respect for customers how they work is just vile. The way overpriced menu is full of lies aswel. ALSO THEY DELETED MY PREVIOUS COMMENT BECAUSE IT...

I cannot speak highly enough of Lara who hosted the entire afternoon for my 30th birthday lunch in the Lizzy room with incredible care and professionalism that completely exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived she made all of us feel welcomed and super relaxed and we will absolutely be back again, as will all my guests! She managed the entire event with calm efficiency and genuine friendliness. She anticipated every need without ever being intrusive and her attention to detail was nothing short of exceptional. Dietary needs were discreetly accommodated and she somehow managed all the individual preferences and quirks of the group seamlessly making the day feel effortless for us. At the beginning I arrived stressed and I was made to feel at complete ease very quickly. Aline was also fab over email accommodating our needs and helping to organise.

What stood out most was Lara’s energy and attitude, she brought a joy and a lightness to the occasion that made the entire lunch feel extra special. It felt more like being looked after by a friend than simply being served. Everyone in attendance commented on how lovely she was and how much she contributed to the warm and celebratory atmosphere, she was always smiling and seemed to genuinely enjoy making sure everyone had the best possible experience. She added something genuinely memorable to the day and we could not be more grateful!!

I will be recommending the Crown to anyone planning an event or special gathering!!!

Thanks from me and my...
