The Goat — Restaurant in London

The staff including management is very rude and unprofessional. I paid 50 pounds deposit for a booking and a bartender/manager refused to pay it back to me, he said I can only use it on a bar (terms and conditions stated otherwise). When I asked what happens if I won't spend the whole amount he couldn't give me a clear answer, it was very hard to communicate with him and he barely even looked at me during the "conversation". At the end it turned out that they let some people I was there with buy drinks on my tab without informing me about this fact (?!). When I asked for a bill, the bartender refused to give it to me explaining that "tills are already closed" she thrown remaining 2 pounds at me and not really politely ask to leave because they want to close (it was only 12:05AM, Saturday). What's more at 11:55PM they sold beers to my friend and his girlfriend just to tell them 10 minutes later that they cannot finish their drinks and have to leave immediately. A member of staff, the same impertinent lady who refused to give me the bill, took their almost full glasses without asking if they finished yet.

Definitely I am never going to visit this place again and I honestly discourage everyone else from going there. There is much more better pubs where you can be served by someone with basic people skills and smile on their faces, not a bunch of...

Dear Goat, I want to give you some feedback re our experience at your pub last night. I arrived with a friend at just after 7pm and we were both shocked to find that there was no staff anywhere. We searched upstairs which was empty in darkness and saw your chef on his mobile, completely ignored us. We then went downstairs, walked round the bar and was just about to leave as 2 bar staff finally appeared. We ordered our drinks with no "welcome" from either staff and sat down. Then we ordered food at approximately 8pm which was obviously forgotten about as it took over an hour to arrive. We did receive an apology once we chased the order after 9pm and the food was good but the overall experience was really disappointing. I had travelled from Horsham to meet friends for the first time in 2 years and was recommended to visit you but I left apologising to my friends and feeling personally responsible for a pretty poor service.Ordinarily I wouldn't complain but I would appreciate some compensation perhaps the form of a refund on our meals? Please could you let me know your email address to resolve this issue? Thank you...

I'm sorry, this was somewhat of a disappointment for me, having seen previous comments. Okay, so the food was so disgusting that I'm not even going to say much except if you want Road Kill Yorkshire Puds, this the place to go! The vegetables were tough and tasteless. The roast beef appeared to have been hacked into pieces by a demented chef... and it was as tough as old shoe leathers. We were a party of six, and each plate was brought from upstairs one at a time by one waitress, arriving at the table cold. Service...well, the staff appeared to be disinterested, and here I need to remind the reader is that they are working in the hospitality industry...hint, hint guys! Atmosphere...if it wasn't for the company that I was in, I would have been tempted to look for the nearest gas oven. Prices are as what is to be expected... but please, can the manager look at repairing the floor near the bar as one of the staff nearly took a tumble...twice!
