Been here four times now, starting with soon after they opened after being the Dover Castle.
On the first visit I had high hopes. They had a good number of beers on tap and cask, even though the selection wasn't too exciting. The beers were on a chalkboard and so would surely be rotated frequently.
We'll, they might as well have been engraved on a brass plaque because that same mediocre selection is almost entirely unchanged a year later.
Any decent beer place rotates their selection to give punters a reason to come back and see what's new. None of the current beers are worth a return trip and all can be bought elsewhere.
So that's the criticism. Otherwise it's a decent pub. Food choices are a little odd but OK. The three seating areas mean there is usually a spare seat to be found, even if the crowd standing outside might be a little off-putting at first.
In summary, change the beers, get some interesting and unusual ones in, and I will be back and bring my friends. Until then, my initial comment of The Jackalope having "a great selection of mediocre...

Beer selection is strong - usually a decent range of craft beers, lagers/pilsners, and a couple of real ales. Never seen the same selection twice. Prices are generally fine for central London, but watch out for Guinness (£7.50 at the time of writing this review).
The food here is immaculate. Order at the hatch downstairs and either eat in the restauranty bit down there or up in the main pub area. Both the spicy noodles and the numbing wontons are phenomenal. Worth coming here just for the food in my opinion.
Vibes are always lively, although I've tended to come after work on a Thursday/Friday when it's particularly busy so don't know how weekends compare. There's usually a big crowd spilling outside and the pub faces out onto a cute little mews which creates quite a nice little outside space even though there's no beer garden.
Overall, this place is really unique and definitely worth a visit. I'd recommend it on the strengths of drink and food separately, but the fact you get both is a...
Read moreThe Jackalope has steadily built it's offering since January 2019 and was occasionally as mythical as its namesake. As of May 2019 it's now open Saturdays as well as Fridays, offering a varied range of well known craft beer names. A multi roomed wood panelled interior gives a traditional pub feel.
Walk past the bar and go downstairs and you'll find the Xiao Mian noodle kitchen. There's a single room with tables accommodating 2-4, and the kitchen offers four or so dishes at good prices. When I visited on a Friday evening, there was a definite split in clientele; the beer fans stayed upstairs and just drank the beer and the noodle fans went downstairs and just ate the noodles. As far as I could see I was the only beer and noodle fan, but with both being such good quality I was well...
