By far and away the WORST takeaway I've ever had. And I don't just mean the worst Thai or Asian, I mean the worst takeaway I have ever had the misfortune to have delivered to my home, and I've partaken in many a late night poor take out decision in my time. To start an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes became an hour and a half. But to part with just shy of £50 for four dishes (two mains & two starters), and to find fault in each one, throwing 2 away in fact, is a shocker. "dry" ribs were 4 square rib ends (yes the fatty bit full of gristle) that we're so soggy and cold they could have just been fished out of an emptying sink. I in fact on first inspection assumed that we'd been sent the wrong dish as they looked so far from ribs they were near unidentifiable. Deep fried squid that was flavourless rubber in unseasoned breadcrumbs. Only 3 prawns in total in a pad Thai that would have been far exceeded in taste by a reheated microwave meal attempt at the dish by Findus in the 80s. A Thai green chicken (allegedly, as in this dish I managed to hunt out two pieces of chicken that fit inside a desert spoon with room to manoeuvre) curry that was like dish water in consistency (probably where the "ribs" had been swimming prior), and served with sticky rice that had to be offered with the invitation "one lump or two?" as it was but a hard block that required dissecting to share. Genuinely the first time I've ever been so shocked and disappointed by a take away order that I've reordered from a different place the same evening to have to replace it. To give the King & I the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they're just shocking at takeaway, and the eat in experience is far more charming, going by other reviews, but I'll not be looking to ever find out myself, based on this...
Read moreI went here for my birthday and it lacked atmosphere. The only other people who were there happened to be a couple who came in for a takeaway.
I had to catch the waitress attention to tell her we were ready to order. Once we did, the food arrived in a timely manner.
I didn't enjoy the starter. The chicken satay was rubbery and stiff. The prawn tempura wasn't nice and light. The chicken dumplings fared a bit better. I didn't take pics of the food. I shot videos so had to screenshot the ones included.
We were left to our own device and had to chase for everything we needed by going to the counter to get someone's attention. Everyone, including the waitress was in the back the entire time, we couldn't see them. Maybe this is due to Covid-19.
The ceiling was the best part of the decor. It had beautiful umbrellas on it. I also liked the blue and white plates the food was presented in. The carpet needs a good, deep clean or replacing completely. The toilet needs refurbishing. Again, extremely ancient, like going back in time.
This restaurant had such good reviews, I was really looking forward to it but I was disappointed. I had the fish which was bland, no seasoning whatsoever which ruined it for me. The duck was good, however, the beef which came hot and sizzling was the star of the show. I would go back to get a takeaway of that beef dish.
I told the waitress it was my birthday and she did say she'll get back to me later. After we ate, she brought a slice of chocolate cake with ice cream and a candle and sang happy birthday to me. It was a lovely gesture which I appreciated.
We went to the counter, called to get someone's attention in order to pay the...
Read moreFabulous little gem of a place. Absolutely delicious authentic Thai choices, I was particularly impressed with the chicken Thai salad and the fresh flavours coming through, Massaman to die for, the prawn tempura and the overall quality of the prawns throughout - fat juicy and perfectly heavenly. The owners are the sweetest, taking time and care to cook everything perfectly so you're not rushed. We had a fabulous family celebration in this intimate and homely little dingly dell of a place. Felt like we'd been warmly welcomed into their home, we'll be back again and again. Best wishes,...
