I always wanted to go and see this place as lots of people recommended it. Pub itself is ok. Owner is fan of Beeâs which is cool. I love BFC! We have been served our drinks and ordered some snacks. And we looked around... tables and bar counter full of empty glasses, we thought maybe glass washing machine broke down, one of bartender was âhappyâ and it was not even 8pm, serving wine and not rinsing measuring cup, so it would be ready for next client... and list can go on. Both girls behind bar had time to chat with each other despite all tables and bar counter being overloaded and clients cleaning they own tables. Our snacks waited for us on the side of bar for 25 min and neither of them noticed that chef brought them. Later they realised that they are there, touched with fingers and noticed that it is cold, but neither of them could remember who are they for. Bizarre! As pub was not busy considering that it was Friday evening. After chatting for some time they decided that it is about time to remove glasses from the bar as new clients will have no space to sit down. So machine does work! Yeee! Owner should consider who they have behind the bar...definitely has to be more organised and responsable person. Left without having our snacks as we have been approached when we have already finished our drinks. It did not seam as place I would consider...
Read moreI wanted to visit this pub as itâs relatively close and had we had read the good reviews online. We were looking forward to a nice meal and making full use of the babysitter. Sadly it wasnât to be, After enjoying a starter each it became obvious the bar and waiting staff were totally unaware of their surroundings and the fact customers may be wanting to enjoy a meal without a performance from them, from the moment we sat down a young lady (staff) was doing constant warm up vocals (singing/ la, la, la, squawking) at the top of her voice, followed by laughter all you could hear was her voice to which she then decided to add a few pirouettes around the bar at any given opportunity. By this time we had ordered our main course which again was nice, the young man (staff) at the bar decided to join in and started singing too like a duo of warm up, dancing banging about, this went on for nearly 40 minutes we wasnât the only people in the bar, restaurant dining and drinking, we decided that we couldnât stand anymore, enjoy your work/job by all means but they was a complete nuisance it was meant to be a grown ups night out the kids at home make less racket & strive for less attention! Sadly Dessert & the rest of our evening was taken elsewhere which was a real shame.as the actual food and venue...
Read moreBeing vegan as well as soya and capsaicin (chilli etc) intolerant, I was really wary of going here but I had the best vegan meal I've eaten in a long, long time. Unfortunately, they don't list allergens on their web site but a quick email brought a fast, helpful and caring response from them. I had a delicious meal made for me (from all my favourite things) AND a scrummy pudding, and I'm still full and happy even though it's hours and hours later.
My lunch partner ate from the more everyday vegan selection and thought the food was amazing - it certainly looked good! Service was great too.
I so very rarely get any sort of meal that isn't a misery when I'm out. It's usually an assemblage of random salad and bits of veg they can 'find' me to eat, nothing I'd enjoy let alone pay good money for. This was definitely not the case at The Lord Nelson. I couldn't have been happier.
A big thank you to everyone who made me welcome and who didn't make me feel like...
