We paid £37.26 for two pieces of fish, two mushy peas, and two tartar sauces on Uber eats. Only the .26 was the delivery fee. No chips come included which is shocking for the very high price, especially since they ask if you want vinegar included in the app—that’s why I assumed chips came with. The fish was big, and good, but don’t get the Masala, it’s not spicy as advertised (why we ordered it) nor is it good. Struggled to even eat the masala one and ended up stripping the breading off by the end. The tartar sauce has mint or something equally weird in it and was the worst I’ve ever had.
Their prices are outrageous, it’s insanely expensive for what you get..the cutlery and vinegar we requested in the order never came. So we ate with our hands and wiped them on the bag/paper the fish came wrapped in. Conflicted because I love small local businesses and fish, but can’t say I’d order again or recommend :( this is my first negative Uber Eats experience.
Edit: docked another star for the fully unprofessional reply from the business owner 👇, who evidently struggles as much with reading comprehension as they do with providing napkins, cutlery, or good value to their clients. I recommend people patronize worthy businesses, there are so many of them, but...
Read moreFirst time at this chippie and very poor experience I'm afraid to report. Really welcoming and friendly service but when we got home and unwrapped our food we were very disappointed. The chips were satisfactory although a little limp and without crunch, but the absolute p*-take was the pie. We both ordered the cheese and onion pie, imagining a sumptuous crunchy pastry in a tin-foil wrapping - not an unreasonable expectation, given that's basically the norm at any chippie I've ever been to! However, to my sheer disbelief the pies were flat Pukka Pies, literally left in their plastic packaging, seemingly microwaved to nothing beyond lukewarm level and then wrapped in paper. Honestly couldn't believe what we were seeing! Even just taking off the plastic packaging would have taken two seconds and would have made all the difference at least aesthetics-wise if not taste-wise. Regrettably we will not be using this chippie again - I say 'Regrettably' as the service was genuinely very good, which made the terrible meals all the more...
Read moreAdditional comment on account of the response by Codfather: If lots of people are saying the same thing about poor food quality, upset stomach and rubbish portions, you need to sort out your staff and hygiene instead of berating paying customers for speaking their truth. Check my other reviews. I typically leave positive ones for businesses, so the issue is your poor food and lack of standards. Please look at your staffing in the day, and improve your quality control and maybe your reputation would not be dwindling. My partner wasn't ill but I was, and the only thing we didn't eat the same that day was that sorry excuse for fish and chips. So it definitely made me ill.
Avoid like the plague. Got food poisoning ever since.
Diabolical portion size. Vile stale taste. Super greasy.
I'm actually gutted as was looking forward to it.
Been ill since yesterday (upset stomach) and I'm convinced this meal is why, as it was the only thing I ate that was any different to usual.
Avoid if you don't want to spend your day (and...
