We had the Sunday dinner and the adults food was perfect. The chicken in the kids meal was overwhelmingly over salted. At the till when ordering we had quite a few issues too with totalling up the food and needed the managers clearance constantly. In the end I think we got over charged by £5 odd which I didn’t go back to query because they had left off one of the desserts off which I had factored into payment but obviously didn’t receive. There was barely a waiter around if we needed to ask for anything. Our dinner plates didn’t get cleared. Even at the point of them bringing our desserts they still hadn’t cleared the dinner plates. The manager was no where to be seen either - so the waiters couldn’t resolve many of the issues themselves. We ordered the sundae and the chocolate brownie for the kids desserts - the same dessert came out ? And was far too bitter … almost dark chocolate ? Which baffles me why that would be on a children’s menu. We left with one of the parents having dessert because they just didn’t add it on at the point of ordering for whatever reason and again as mentioned above the manager wasn’t around to resolve. Wouldn’t necessarily come back.

Had a lovely lunch to celebrate Father's Day at The Mawney Arms. A very warm welcome om arrival shown to our table. Excellent choice from menu my husband choose of Sunday roast menu with a starter, our son's burgers and I had chicken. On Embers app Dad's got a free pint of Madri for Father's day very easy too use. I throught being fathers day thier would be a wait for food. However it was all survived it good time. Desert was amazing. I would highly recommend it especially for special celebrations. Well done to the team @ Mawney Arms.

Service was brilliant, one member of staff went above and beyond to look after our party of 9 we arrived with an extra person and rearranged our table to accommodate them , the table was beautifully decorated, food was lovely turkey was lovely and moist with plenty of it, those who ordered from the non festive menu were really happy with their food, all the food came out together was really reasonable price wise we was expecting our bill to be higher, definitely recommend.

Very poor indeed. We were a party of four on a very quiet lunchtime mid-week. Ordered three hot meals and a sandwich, as well as a round of drinks. One hot meal was not available, so an alternative was chosen. Around 25 minutes later, a waitress appeared and told us that a second hot meal was unavailable, so that diner also chose an alternative meal. A further 20 minutes or so passed and a different waitress told us that the third hot meal was also unavailable. At this point we decided to go elsewhere. We politely suggested that we could have been told what was not available at the time of ordering and paying and certainly, should have been told when the first waitress told us about the second hot meal being unavailable. We were just told that the waitress had 'only just been told'. She agreed to sort out a refund and she did - except we were refunded less than the cost of the food we'd ordered and no mention made of the drinks we'd ordered to have with our food. Eventually, the refund was sorted out and we went elsewhere. Such a shame that this pub let itself and the chain down. In business, things do go wrong. We all know that. When these things happen, a genuine apology and an effort to address the issue is usually enough to satisfy a customer and to keep their custom in the future. An attempt to minimise and pass the blame elsewhere, on the other hand, guarantees that this customer and the rest of the party will not only not be returning, but will also tell friends and family ...

We held a wake for my late father in law here. It’s a lovely pub with great staff. The manager took a great deal of time talking me through the food options and the timing. She suggested a suitable location within the pub which was perfect as we wouldn’t impact on other guests and likewise we didn’t impact on them. Because of the age profile and mobility issues some of the guests had the area was very flat with wide access for a wheelchair and a disabled toilet nearby. The food was freshly cooked and served hot. The food was well presented and smelt delicious. The ham sandwiches were commented on as the ham was thickly sliced and very tender and the sausage rolls vanished immediately! The whole spread catered for everyone including vegetarian and soft food for those with dental problems! The management team checked several times to make sure we were ok and not running out of teas or coffees or if we needed anything else. The added advantage was the ability to park easily. We were not rushed to leave and spent several hours there also taking advantage of the bar facilities. It was a very relaxed environment and enabled those present to reminisce of times with my father in law. I have eaten from the menu here before and always enjoyed it. To be honest I didn’t know they offered this facility and would recommend this as a great value for money buffet option. Well done to the...

As being a ex landlord, the Mawnery arms used to be my regular, unfortunatly the standards of this once great local pub has slipt to a all time low. Iv visited the Mawney arms on 18th december in the afternoon to find the pub was like a kindergarden. There was lots of children blocking the entrance to the pub as they was playing on the floor with toys and also prams blocking entrances and exits. As i got to the bar i am a real ale drinkinker and i asked the bar man what real ales have you got on and his reply was we have broadside question why have you got two pumps with Broadside on? reply from bar man I dont know he said. While i was at the bar a lady was there complaining about waiting an hour for their food and half hour for their bill. I thought this maybe a one of but no as i went into the Mawney arms on 22nd december i went to the bar and one person serving, one person bottling up and after waiting 10minutes i said to the bar man who was bottling. Have you got a cloth as the bar was floating in beer and dripping onto the floor. He replied yes but carried on doing his job and waited another two minutes and decided to go to the bull in romford town centre. Where the service was much better and drinks are cheaper also a proper pub atmosphere. All the long term staff has gone which this should wake up the managers and ensure they bring their standards back to how...
