I was meeting a friend for a catch-up and fancied a change of scene—The Oak turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Tucked just outside Kingston town centre, it might not grab your attention from the outside, but you’d be missing out if you passed it by. The staff were among the friendliest I’ve come across in a while—warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. I was greeted early with a smile, and things only got better when I spotted Murphy’s Stout on draught (a rare and very welcome find!). Out back, there’s a charming garden I didn’t expect—perfect for enjoying the last of the evening sun. All in all, a lovely spot for a relaxed drink and good conversation. I’ll definitely be back.

Often go to watch Ransom playing at the Oak. It's a lovely venue that has good sound and a small stage for the band so you have better visibility. There is always a good audience and atmosphere (the one time someone in the venue was being out of order the landlord removed him promptly) and staff are always friendly and helpful. Also has a covered area outside for if you want more space or to watch football etc. If you like live music, definitely worth going to as they have some good bands on.

Very nice pints and friendly bar staff. What seemed to be, the only pub in the area showing sports. I visited midweek to watch the champions league football, it was quiet, just a few men at the bar.

I've been visiting this Pub frequently lately, especially to watch all the matches of the European Championship. The atmosphere has been absolutely perfect. The pub offers an incredibly friendly environment for all fans, making it the ideal spot to catch the games.

The food is outstanding, consistently delicious, and the service is impressively fast, even with around 400 people present during the game broadcasts. It's clear that the staff are well-organized and dedicated to providing a great experience for everyone.

Overall, has exceeded my expectations. The combination of a lively atmosphere, excellent food, and top-notch service makes it a fantastic place to watch sports and enjoy a night out. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return. Five stars...

You'd think after the trials and tribulations of lockdown, landlords would be interested in any opportunity to increase footfall. Not so the landlord of the Oak. Went to a gig there on Saturday night, which was great, it is a great space for live music, so you'd think he would be interested in using the space midweek, with my proposal to have Open Mic there. His response was a bit curt, just saying he didn't want open mic. I asked him why not and he said"Its my decision", which of course it is, but you'd think he would have at least done me the courtesy of telling me why! So... I've gone down the road to The Grey Horse, which is a much better place. better venue, more choice of beer, with a very...
