The Old Hall Tavern — Restaurant in London

Fancied a pub lunch with my partner and thought we would try somewhere new apposed to the usual ( The greene man). We had scoped the menu before going and thought that it looked good with some great options for mains and dessert! What a mistake!!! We sat down inside, after a few minutes the lady asked if we were having drinks , we said we were just deciding what to have. We were choosing what we were having on the app ( that their website says you can use to order) and she approached us abruptly a second time saying " You know you have to buy something you can't just sit in here! " , we then informed her that we had ordered through the app and she said " The app doesn't work..." she wanted us to check if the money had been taken and made us feel like it was our fault that something they have in place doesn't work. Ironically the app did work and the cook come out to tell us one of our items was out of stock ( which wasn't an issue). I chose something else unaware to myself that it was more expensive until the lady said she will have to sort out doing a refund and charging us again for the difference ( in my opinion this should not have been mentioned as for the troubles experienced already in goodwill they should have honoured the difference). The food was of good proportion and good standard but the service was terrible and for this reason i will not be returning or recommending this place. I think we shocked the bartenders. We were quite ready for shenanigans. We walked in and the room became silent. The existing patrons just looked at us for a minute and then went about their business. It's a beautiful home town pub! Inviting and open with a pretty standard menu with a twist of flavor and a little bit of heat. The bar tenders and the wait staff weren't so versed on american cocktails, but they were very accommodating, and after a little bit of time, they warmed up and were pretty cool. Being going to this pub for many years mostly for the music on a Friday & Saturday night. Great bands & great music as I love to dance the night away. But for some unknown reason the new people that run the pub want to fill the pub with tables & chairs. Difficult to get to the bar with so many people sitting on the stools.
