I moved to Southfields 12 years ago and used to buy fish and chips, chicken nuggets and sometimes wraps here. The food quality was fine but went down over time. I stopped buying 3-4 years ago, today decided to get cod and chips on a whim - and again was very disappointed.
Michael (owner) - if you have any pride in this establishment, please listen to the customer feedback. So many negative reviews. Customers are telling you the chips are AWFUL (today mine were very dry and bland, like the worst school canteen type of chips imaginable). If you’re not going to have staff actually cutting fresh chips like a REAL chippy, then at least change your supplier! I normally love chippy chips - but I threw half in the bin and I had to force myself to eat the ones I ate. The cod today was so thin too, compared to what I’d normally expect in a chippy, with thin batter that was soft and almost not at all crispy. And this cost £13?!
Some of the best chippies in the area are Seahorse on Garratt Lane and Fresh in East Putney. That’s the standard we need here. Delicious chips, crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside, that you can eat a bag of, on their own. Chunky, flakey cod with crispy batter.
This is my last time buying from here, unless I see an “under new management” sign. This place has been here a long time, but Southfields deserves better.
PS - In reply to the owner’s reply - it was a walk-up order, so there’s no order number. There’s nothing to discuss really - I think it’s clear what...
Read moreI wanted to get myself an ice-cream from this place today.
Ice-cream was half melted, the scoops have not even held shape.
One flavour I ordered was a sorbet, but that was not specified anywhere
The lady serving the ice-cream (in black curly hair) has an atrocious attitude to customers. She acted as if she was doing me a favour that I am spending my money at this place. She even told me off and said: don't show me this attitude. All I did is, I asked if I can pay first before she puts the scoops on. It's difficult to pay and pack a backpack with an ice-cream in my hand. Places like Amorino have never had any issues with such requests. She also said, she can't do that because she already put the hand gloves on.
This was Little Britain Computer Says No customer service.
I am 43 years old and long time grew out of showing people attitude. Life's too short for that.
Needless to say that I have not enjoyed my half-melted ice-cream and unwanted sorbet. They have lost a local customer. In midst of pandemic, when so many catering places go bust, customers are gold. Not at The Original Fish & Chips London. Here you are at mercy of this awful woman's mood.
Horrible place! Avoid...
