DON'T GO, DON'T STAY! VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO ARTISTS/ACTORS WORKING UPSTAIRS ON THE THEATRE!!! A few weeks ago, after our show at the Etcetera Theatre (upstairs the pub) the whole cast and family decided to have drinks to celebrate. About 16 of us, on two tables, having chill conversations on the terrace. We had one drink each+snacks. (Spending a lot of money) After a while we asked if the kitchen was closed. The nice waitress replied Yes and recommended pizza from the corner stan. Trying to avoid future problems, I specifically ask "Can we bring food in from another place? Are we allowed to eat it here?" In which she replied "Yes! I don't see why it should be a problem, our kitchen is closed and you asked in advance" so we did. Hours later, when we had almost finished eating a very rude gentleman, oddly enough avoided the table of the group that spoke English, (not sure if it was coincidence or racism) approached the foreign table and shouted rudely "No food allowed". I snapped and explained that we had permission from the waitress, in which he replied "She is new, she doesn't know. Take it with the manager!" This is the last we heard from anyone. We continued to have a peaceful time, half of our group (that also had pizza and weren't told anything at all, left home) reminder: the pub was still open and busy. After 15 min the Manager came to the table, without any warning, SNATCH my dad's drink from his hand, the table one, and said "I'll be putting that onto plastic glasses. You can leave now" Ridiculous situation. I followed him and complained that we had given permission, even the waitress with huge embarrassment face to the manager attitude, nodded and vocally confirmed "Yes I give them permission". It didn't matter, he brought our drinks outside the pub and proceeded to kick as out, while screaming and being super rude. We then bring the police, not just for the crazy situation but also because while my dad was trying to get back in because my mom and our backs were still inside the Manager PUSHED my dad by the shoulders while saying "You're not getting in again". The police refused to make any complaints neither to being kicked out for no reason, nor for receiving physical aggression! Saying.. "they can do what they please on their establishment". Helpless. I never felt so disgusted, disrespected and insulted in my life. We were treated like criminalsss!!!!! And the whole time we showed manners and respect! I had the worst evening of my life. PLEASE AVOID THIS PUB AND DON'T ENCOURAGE THEIR DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR WITH ANY MONEY OR BUSINESS (Disclaimer: The theater has no correlation to...
Read moreI’m not usually one to write reviews but I feel it’s important to make my experience public as I had an extremely unsafe experience.
I was at this pub last night and the memories I made there were lovely however when my safety is as risk it really puts a damper on my evening. If you are queer (and I know this is not a queer specific space) I would recommend you go elsewhere even if with your friends. I and a couple others I was with stepped outside for a smoke and upon going back in the man at the door let everyone else in except me and two other lovely girls I had met who are also a bit more colorful for descriptions sake. Security at the door kept telling me ‘No you’re not going in. No absolutely not’ and let three other people in as I and the other gals stand out there. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered HOWEVER there was a man standing outside the pub entrance who was talking with my group and at first seemed like a nice fella. In front of the door man he then tried to sell me drugs and wouldn’t take my no for an answer, he grabbed my arm and tightened his grip and then kept asking me ‘how much you got in your bag’ over and over. All of this happening with the idiot of a door man standing there WATCHING it happen. When I managed to pulled away and stepped into the entrance I was once again met with ‘no you’re not coming in’ even after this door man just watched everything happen. I stood there arguing with him for a good couple of minutes to let me in for safety sake. The other two girls once they came in told me they had almost the same experience.
All of this is to say it’s really a shame this pub doesn’t seem to care about the safety of others. Queer or otherwise if you want to be in an environment where you feel safe, this is not the place. There are plenty of better pubs in...
Read moreTerrible pub, unproffesional cold unwelcomy staff and especially the lady manager. I worked in hospitality over 10 years I have never came across such self centered rude people. I came in here for a half of pint of Camden Hells after a hard shift. As i walk in the pub i head to the toilets first, before buying my drink. I was rudely asked by the manager ( i believe) by the toilet " ARE YOU OK? " Very rudely and unpolitely. To which i replied " Yes I am ok, why are you asking" I said i came here to buy a drink , but first i want to use the loo, is there a problem ? I honestly cannot believe she thought it was ok to come up to a person in the rush to use the loo before buying a drink and ask them rudely "YOU OK" As if to say "How dare I use the toilet" First of all, you dont OWN the toilets you absolute jobsworth... also how dare you just assume by the way i look that I wasn't not going to buy a drink and just use the loo without asking. Very rude and unpolite. And to be honest after that miserable manager encounter, I didnt even was to spend my money in there, but I did anyway. The bar staff were absolutely miserable, couldnt even get a smile out of them. These crew shouldnt not work in hospitality if they cant handle people and social interactions. The need to work in miserable jobs where you dont have to smile. Please avoid this pub, if you dont want to be greated by abnoxiuos staff and rude managers that think they are above people. Discusting experience. The bar staff has killed the character of this pub and sucked out the soul out of it. What a cold miserable place, it was like someones funeral. Please go to the other friendly pubs around Camden, you would have a much better time amd experience. If i could give zero...
