Today my family and I decided to go for sushi and we thought of Sushi Salsa, a place we had enjoyed in the past. So we booked a table for five – myself, my wife, and our three kids.
When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty – just two girls eating next to us and perhaps another couple at a separate table. We sat down and were given a very brief explanation of how the “all you can eat” worked: £29.90 per person, with a limit of 7 items per order and a maximum of 5 rounds within a 90-minute window. Some items were limited to one piece per person, others up to six pieces.
Since our children weren’t really interested in the set menu, we ordered 2-3 items à la carte for them. For the first round, we received only three very small portions – more like finger food. In the meantime, as a sashimi lover, I ordered a sashimi boat for £64 (30 pieces). The manager seemed reluctant, repeatedly telling me it might be too much, almost trying to discourage me from ordering it. I went ahead anyway.
The sashimi boat arrived (thankfully, it was good), but the remaining items from our first round of the all-you-can-eat took another 25 minutes to arrive. When they finally did, the sushi was disappointing: overcooked, sticky rice with no flavour at all.
Meanwhile, the service disappeared – no one came to check on us, take additional orders, or ask how things were. After waiting over 30 minutes and receiving inedible sushi, I asked for the bill. That took another 10 minutes. When the waitress saw that none of the sushi had been touched, she seemed surprised but didn’t ask anything until I pointed out the poor quality and the unacceptable waiting times.
Eventually, without any real explanation, we were offered a 20% discount. I insisted on paying full price (£179) out of principle, but they applied the discount anyway and we paid around £150. Honestly, if I hadn’t ordered that sashimi boat, we would have left hungry and feeling completely scammed.
Conclusion: very disappointing experience – low quality sushi, absent service, poor organisation. A shame, as we remembered it being much better...
Read moreI took my teenage daughter there today , after being told by her , that it looks amazing and is trending on tick tock , and she wanted to try all you can eat sushi buffet . We ordered through TripAdvisor, so we got to 20% off the bill code. Although when we arrived we were told that it’s just A la carte menu Then we were Charles wasn’t actually a stand-up buffet, but were given a list, and we’re told to take five things from the list, and I’ll bring it to you order 5 times from the list but only Uk to 5 items a time . And then I was given another little list of hot foods, and were told that you can order up to 7 small planes, but only once We ordered from the cold menu, and then the waiter came over and Sahed had we chosen from the second menu. We said we had in believing that we would eat from the first menu up to 5 times and then they would bring us the remaining 7 What they actually did, was bring the mains before the starters when I called up to question this is the lady Sahed. Yes why did you give your second piece of paper I said I didn’t, and if there I’m sure they should’ve asked, they just came over and took it from the side. Then she offered to take it to the kitchen to stay warm for me until I ate the starters. I said that would be ridiculous. The food will be dry by then and not fresh so she just walked away , was really unhelpful the buffet is £26.80 per person abd is very limited and also not good quality I could see it was the ends of the salmon and things like that , in the end we had a lovely young waitress that came over and when i complained was overly apologetic, even though she wasn’t our server , was very polite sweet young girl , I found she was probably the youngest , but most mannered . Anyway overall...
Read moreI came here at the end of May for their bottomless sushi £29.99. The actual sushi was good, my complaints would be that the seaweed is chewy on some of the rolls which can make it harder to eat and the spicy sauce on the tuna roll isn’t the proper stuff so taste a little off. It’s also very annoying you have to order the same things as whoever you’re with each round as me and my friend don’t like similar things so it felt like we were ‘forced’ to eat it. It also means you have double of what you want so first round I got 16 salmon avocado that I felt I had to get it down otherwise you’re charged. You have 5 rounds and then you are able to order off the hot food menu 7 times within that, but can’t order the same thing twice (again slightly frustrating as some of the things like gyoza you only get one each! Same with prawn tempura And they’re some of my favourites)
My only real issue was with the service, when ordering our rounds we found it quite difficult to get hold of the staff. They weren’t very attentive and it felt like we were actually being ignored by the lady who was serving us (i think she was mousy brown/blonde mid length hair and had an accent). She was doing any job but taking our orders, it literally felt like she was finding things to do so shouldn’t couldn’t serve us. I’m am also never a complainer, I would say I’m very polite anytime I go out to eat or anything similar so felt there was no reason that there would’ve been a lack of service. The other staff were very nice and once we got their attention everything was fine! It just felt like they weren’t very attentive. Decent value for money though I would say and the dining experience is very unique with the tables...
