I am not an avid pub-goer, nor do I enjoy the occasional drink. I can't attest to the quality of food or drink here, nor I can say much about the daily atmosphere.
But what I do know is that this place is run by the most kind hearted and lovely people out there, who I will be always indebted to.
When I walked into this cosy and quaint pub on a quiet workday night, as I have been conspicuously looking for a nice and quiet place just like this in Highgate, moments away from a significant location for me and my girlfriend, in order to ask the staff there whether I could have a few moments to ourselves so I could propose to her soon, Harry and the rest of the staff couldn't have been better people to ask. Not only Harry was very kind and generous in agreeing to let me have the place to ourselves after closing, he has become fully invested in weeks of planing and scripting the proposal. Apart from helping me with the most important moment of my life to date, Harry and the staff have been so kind and so thoughtful, that my faith in human selfishness and kindness has been renewed.
I urge anyone with a heart to visit and give their custom to this beautiful pub, something that this practically non-drinking romantic can not do consistently. I am sure that, with such lovely people looking after it, this pub will be an amazing spot for years to come, and is now also evidently a perfect place to say "yes" in! Thanks again to Harry and everyone else, wishing you and the Prince of Wales a...
Read moreNo respect for local residents. The pub frequently blasts music way above the level of noise required for such a small pub, causing so much noise that we cannot sleep even with earplugs and can feel the vibrations coming through our walls. We've been forced to sleep on our sofa when they have allowed this to happen; speaking to the manager solved nothing as the man showed no remorse and no desire to change the situation. Patrons frequently gather outside on the pavement, shouting, drinking and smoking in front of other people's homes. This is not the friendly local pub the owners paint it out to be but a nuisance to...
Read moreGreat spot for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Wonderful, albeit tiny, outdoor area looking onto pond square. You are transported to a different world sitting out there. Indoors is just as enticing and the friendly staff complete the picture. All in all all a lovely day at the Prince of Wales. I have been here several times over the last few years and what i like most is that this place is a real pub, and not a restaurant pretending to...
