Last Sunday the weather was nice, so we sat in the pub's garden. We decided to order our food from the bar rather than the app, as we wanted to modify one order slightly, which we were told was fine.
Our companions chose Grilled Seabass Fillets (Served with sautéed potatoes, king prawns, peas and free-range hollandaise sauce). When it arrived, it looked very appetising, and we had requested one to be without prawns when we ordered, which was easily catered for by the kitchen staff.
My "Sunday Trio of Meats" (Succulent gammon, turkey and beef, Yorkshire pudding with pork, leek and apple stuffing), when that arrived shortly afterwards, did not look so appetising. The greens were cold and indigestible, the potatoes were small and very dry and having expected a combination of sliced beef, turkey and gammon, there was only one small slice of beef, and two small slices of chicken on my plate. There was no sign of turkey, or the gammon as advertised. I admit, the gravy was nice, but the meal didn't meet my expectations or the charged price of £16.49.
It started to cloud over in the garden, so we came inside for our desserts. Despite my asking at the bar when we ordered our mains, should we order our desserts at the same time, we were advised there was no need to order our desserts at the same time.
Today, I discovered by looking at the website, that meant we were charged the full price of £6.79 for our desserts instead of the advertised discounted price of £2.50 per dessert when ordering a Sunday roast.
Desserts were ordered again from the bar by my companion, I'm now expecting that my sticky toffee pudding with custard I had ordered would make up for my disappointment with my Sunday roast.
Unfortunately, no, it did not. The small square of dark sponge I was served was the same dimensions as a standard size Post-it© Note, while the custard was served in a ramakin that I suspect could also double as a placement holder for a tea light.
Today I looked at the online menu, and saw my pudding was advertised as containing a mere 266kcal. That was approximately 1 third the number compared to my companion's Strawberry & Raspberry Eton Mess Sundae. 671kcal.
So, a lesson learned, next time, before I order my dessert, I'll ask how many calories it has and what size the portions are. That way, I'd get my money's worth.

Read moreI really hope our experience isn't reflective of the general experience in this pub... For the sake of other customers.
They run out of Ember Inn's Pale Ale... In an Ember Inn branded pub. Out of 3 alcohol free beers/cider in the menu, only 1 was available. Other's had run out.
Upon ordering the bar staff did not offer me a receipt... On request of said receipt it appeared the waiter was flustered and had a difficult time producing it.
The ember inn's app offered us a voucher for a free drink as this was the first time we registered... Upon ordering I specified which drink I wanted the voucher to apply to. On looking at the receipt I noticed my request wasn't honoured and after speaking to two bar staff, they finally called the manager who told me that it was in the term's and conditions that the cheapest drink would have the voucher applied against. I opened the terms and conditions and asked him to point out the section which says this. After reading through the entire T&Cs with the manager he finally admitted that it wasn't in the T&Cs and went off to solve the problem. The manager never offered a refund, instead brought me and my fiancé another round of drinks identical to what we had ordered. This wasn't ideal as I personally struggle to drink 2 pints with a meal and would rather have had more food (which was rather expensive).
The food was good for the price... I'm not expecting magic. Only 1 complaint here... The gravy was burnt.
The bramley apple pie had a soggy consistency with uneven heat...as if it had been microwaved. - not too big an issue for me, however this is important to some people.
All in all the staff weren't very friendly or easygoing in dealing with our complaint. I hope they get themselves sorted out, as this pub has a lot...
Read moreHello I visited your restaurant today in hopes of enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch with family however was very disappointed.
Firstly it was only 1 meat available and only 2 left so we had to decide between us who got it, then it states what comes with a roast dinner in which was not what came with the meal - Served with a Yorkshire pudding, fluffy crisp roast potatoes, roast parsnips, braised red cabbage with apple, fresh roasted carrots, steamed broccoli and a jug of gravy. The vegetables was mixed together from a steamed bag. Nothing like the description or the photo online of the roast dinner.
Secondly - I ordered 2 chicken dippers for my children and they came out burnt, really hard to eat and dry, 1 of my son's had to take the skin off which left not much at all.
Thirdly - We allow guide dogs and assistant dogs into our businesses. Many of our pubs allow dogs in their garden areas, but please check with the business before you visit to avoid disappointment.
This is stated under faqs on your website however there was at least 3 dogs inside the restaurant where food is being served, I felt really uncomfortable as I am afraid of dogs and didn't not expect to come to eat and have to sit there worried. This is unacceptable to not even follow your own rules as a company with everything stated in these 2 messages, false advertising of the food and to be told by your staff member it's brand standards, awful...
