đ Denmark Hill đşÂ ÂŁ6.70 Cruzcampo
The Tiger is located in the heart of Camberwell opposite Camberwell Green in South London. The nearest station being Denmark Hill on the Windrush Line.
This pub was originally called The Tigerâs Head and was built in 1826. In recent years, it was known as The Silver Buckle, but reverted to its historic name of The Tiger after the name and beautiful tiles were uncovered during renovations in 2009.
This is a large, high-ceilinged, one-bar pub that has a traditional feel with contemporary touches. The servery is located along the back wall and features a solid counter and a mirrored back bar. The main bar area is spacious, with poser tables down the middle and low-level tables and chairs by the windows. At the front left, there is a small, colourful room with banquette seating and an old Joanna. Behind this room is a secluded, raised section with funky wallpaper and a period fireplace. To the side of the pub, there is a small beer garden with benches.
The beer selection will please the masses, with a line-up of familiar tipples and three cask ales. I opted for a Cruzcampo; my pint hit the spot, price point was above average. There is currently no food being served.
I arrived just after 3 p.m. on a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon in May. There were about a dozen or so punters in attendance, and the atmosphere was chilled and laid-back. The service was greatâthe team on duty were welcoming, friendly, and good-natured.
This pub hosts regular Karaoke and quiz nights.
This Antic pub is a real departure from their usual shabby-chic, âsofa rescued from a skipâ trademark look. The exteriorâs green tiles are gorgeous, the bar area is stylish yet comfortable, the beer is spot-on, and the hospitality is bang on the money. This SE5 boozer is well worth a visit if youâre in the area.

Read moreI would have left a zero star review if possible. Six of us came for a roast for my partners birthday. It took around 30 minutes to wait for a table even big enough for a party and we ordered hurriedly as we were starving. The barman (which Iâve since been informed is also the manager!) accepted our orders and told us there would be a 40 minute wait. 35 minutes go by and 3 people receive their Seitan roast, all of which were cold to the touch. They complained and got their food reheated - which took at least 15 minutes. In the meantime, another beef roast came out which was also cold to the touch. We complained and they told us they would reheat this. At around 55 minutes after ordering, 4 of 6 had finished their meals, beef roast still not back from reheating, my food still hasnât arrived so I went to the bar to ask about this. They fumbled around with little apology or concern for my issue and returned to explain that âmy ticket must have gotten lostâ. I was offered a refund, or âanother roast a different time?â, no free drink or compensation, every other vegetarian food option had run out. Following this embarrassing and upsetting experience, the beef roast still had not returned from it being reheated and the orderer went to complain. His food had also been forgotten about yet he was offered a free drink. We have both ended up getting Greggs....
Read moreI love how google says: "tell others why you HATED this place", that is a bit harsh... but so it was their burnt burger... I got here for a roast dinner, as working and I could not have lunch I was really hungry! I was thinking: "it is Sunday, that means Sunday roast, Oh, yeah!" Well, "Oh, nooo!" Because they didn't have any left, only burgers, as I still may have to go back to work I decided to finish my search and try one of their burgers, a burger can never go wrong... I thought to myself, well, it can, and it did. The bacon was burnt, not even overcooked, it was hard, not crunchy, all the qualities you want from super healthy bacon... the bread was toasted, or it was supposed to be toasted, but it was also burnt, to accompany the matching burger... and I ordered some sweet potatoes with it, which were also overcooked, nothing crispy about them, just soft and dark, I had to add some mayo so I could eat them. I could not take a picture of that, it didn't look it could in any way be photogenic... very disappointed, I would have asked for this to be replaced if I wasn't worried about the chance of quickly having to go back to work... Also, nobody bothered asking at any point if the food was ok, obviously who served me could see it wasn't with their very own eyes, I guess in those cases is better not to ask... Tiger,...
