Stopped of whilst on the Brentford Art Trail on Sunday. Had been to The Weir once previously for a drink at Christmas. Hadn’t realised it had a lovely garden overlooking over the Canal (and a Weir!) Very welcoming staff also very efficient - when a table was vacated the table was immediately cleaned and reset. Had table in pole position overlooking the canal in no smoking area (complete with no smoking flamingo guardians!) There was a fab mix of tall trees shading the garden, different seating areas but none too crowded. Good drinks choices. We weren’t planning on eating but we’re tempted by a couple of small plates - a prawn salad dressed beautifully and mot me some gorgeous crab doughnuts which were fab. We couldn’t tear ourselves away from such a relaxed venue perfect for a lazy Sunday. It was on the Trail as JMW Turner’s home and beautiful building was a great backdrop. An acoustic guitarist provided soft background music. It was perfect! I didn’t get the name of the very friendly FoH lady who greeted us so thanks to her but all the staff were obviously happy to be working there. A perfect afternoon! The photo is from Our spot in the garden across the canal to the weir

What an amazing location! We went for lunch as a group of three and it was perfect. Greeted right away, excellent service, amazing food, and frequently checked on. The place itself is right along a river front, which we sat outside to overlook, and the inside is set up to entertain. The bar also looked like an amazing place to sit and enjoy the evening.

Great outdoor space by the canal, really nice and courteous staff. Roast dinner was good, big servings, roast potatoes average. (Sorry that's my marker for poor, average, good or amazing roast) location and staff would make me recommend this place.

The shittest place ever. How can you make people wait 1.5 hours after ordering to bring out food. Not even serve any drinks to keep the guests comfortable. Lost appetite now and still waiting for the food. We were a group of 12 yes but it don't take this long to make food. I would have made the food myself if the Chef allowed me. I am pissed off now. Don't recommend this place for food at all. Waste of time. We were being updated saying the food will come in 20 mins. Then again after another 30 to 40 mins we were told that food is being prepped and will be another 20 mins. After that the waiters started being rude when asked about an update. We were being told its a busy day but there were only 3 to 4 other tables of 2 or 3 people max there. On two occasions other tables were served whether the people arrived after we did an left before we did. The waiter then tells us that there is a technical issue in the kitchen, when asked what, he said they have run out of Avocados. I could have gone and bought them from a corner shop in a few minutes rather than wait 2 hours. This is ridiculous. I highly recommend people don't go here to eat. The food that arrived wasn't even that tasty and if you see the size of the portions, you would genuinely wonder how it can take 2+ hours to make this food. Also we weren't told anything about being a big group or given other restaurant recommendations nearby to go to instead, the owner mentions this in the review response before I had to re-edited this review to refute those points - all lies. They are using public relations talk and being dishonest in the process. He says they don't have many vegan options but we ordered the usual dishes from the menu which had eggs and ingredients generally available. I recall the waiter also saying that they had to make dishes from scratch at we requested a change to one ingredient and that the other tables that were being served quicker because they had ordered what was on the menu; 1) We only made changes to 4 dishes out of the 12 people that ordered and so that is a silly excuse, 2) it was a small ingredient change and not the recipe, 3) still took 2 hours for...

It started off with very inattentive staff, partner tried 3 times to get attention when staff attended to the table next to us. 1 of group was about to head to bar when we finally got attention. Then the service improved vastly. Unfortunately the food did not. Gastro, it wasn’t even as good as a Toby Carvery. 1 had Gambass, new to us, turns out just king prawns, Gastro’d up. I had Ham & Pea soup, a stingy portion & certainly not Gastro. Friend had a croquet which he liked. Followed by a burger which he liked. We had chateaubriand, Gastro price but nothing special at all. Chips & tomatoes were good & that’s about it. Deserts I was reluctant to purchase but thought I’d give benefit of doubt. I had crumble, nice but had to send it back as cold in middle. Bill came, service was automatically added which I disagree with but as a scene was not wanted we just paid it. Will not be returning.

Having seen your reply I need to comment further. There was nothing “wrong” with the food (apart from the dessert). I only return food if it is not correct, it’s not your fault if I simply don’t like something. It is just my opinion that your food was not “Gastro” it was normal. I shouldn’t have to ask for more service but Just as my partner said you may have to go to the bar to order, the waitress came. It was a long wait. You say you only ever have compliments. You can no longer say that.

You also write at no point did I inform the staff I was unhappy. Incorrect. I had to return the Crumble dessert as it was cold in the middle. It was returned to me overheated in a microwave. I do have to disagree with your comment that my review is unjustified. That is only your opinion. I have written many reviews. I feel you do not appreciate my review & instead of taking it onboard feel you must rebuke it instead. As I wrote, I will not be returning, far more enjoyable food elsewhere for far less money. I wish you well from a...

Well this place is a great example of resting on your laurels. The venue and the situation is really nice. The first bad experience was when we arrived, nobody was allocated to seat people. When I told one of the barstaff we were waiting to be seated there was an aggressive comment from what turned out to be the manager asking if we booked. The table by the river request had been forgotten and it was only because we phoned up 3:45 to say we've be slightly late data tables reserved for it outside at all. The manager seems to be in a permanent state of passive aggressive the bar staff appear to be in fear of her they all seem to be inexperienced and are pretty ineffective. Tables sat outside uncleared for the whole night, apparently orders are sometimes taken at the table but this barman pointed out they were too busy. Having ordered the food and waited around half an hour I went to remind them being very careful what I said so as not to upset the manager. Predictably 2 minutes later out comes the food. As the evening wore on it got darker and the colder but it was until I requested the the lights and heaters to be turned on that they were to the relief of everybody outside. I can't remember when I've seen service and attitude as bad as this. I will give you the manager the benefit of the doubt that she is being overworked and has had inexperienced young staff foisted on her. The food was...
