The Westbury is my local and we go at least a couple times a month. The beer selection is always great and the staff are really nice. Pretty decent drink prices as well for it being a bit more gastro. I’ve eaten there a couple times and the food was above average I’d say, except for last night. I ordered the vegetarian platter which consisted of olives, hummous, baba ganoush, tzatziki, pitta, and fried halloumi. I thought the price was a bit hefty at £11.95, but thought I’d treat myself. I really should have just gotten some cheesy chips! The quality of the hummous and bread was appalling (I feel I could’ve got the same - or better -at Lidl). They were both dry and tasteless. The olives and baba ganoush were just ok (again, I’ve had much better from the supermarket). The best part was the tzatziki and halloumi (the two things you get the least amount of). All in all I was very disappointed and will probably never order food there again. If they used much higher-quality ingredients the price would be a bit more justifiable, but as it stands I can’t give them more than 3 stars. Do...
Read moreI have to agree with Alan’s review. I’m a regular customer on various nights of the week / weekends and the food and beer are consistently great. However, today’s service (Sunday roast) felt really rushed. 1 hour is not long enough to order, enjoy and finish your meal in comfortable time. I appreciate there is a ‘window’ to allow for turnaround on tables (as someone who has worked in hospitality), but taking individual plates and glasses off the table at 3 minute intervals while some members of your group are still eating is quite rude / you feel like a number and not a guest.
Hoping this feedback will help with some minor adjustments to the service model as I do love this pub, and the staff are always very friendly / polite - could just do with being a bit less rushed - especially on Sundays when the whole point is to relax with your...
Read moreAfter previously having a good experience of a Sunday roast along with the service at The Westbury. Booked again last Sunday only to be disappointed at the service, and to watch the chef plate up the meal with bare hands! Then to watch him scratch his behind (over his trousers) and continue to plate up with an unwashed bare hand. We were presented with the card reader before receiving our meal. Also the waitress cleared the table while the other person was still eating. Wasn't offered any condiments so had to ask for them. Sticky toffee pudding was very nice, but with only a very small drizzle of custard. Young inexperienced staff, I felt needed more training. The roast was very enjoyable although was put off knowing how it was plated up. Sorry but I wont be returning for...
