The Urban Chocolatier - Wood Green — Restaurant in London

I would never go here again! Food was disappointing and customer service was atrocious. Don't waste your money. The place was practically empty and we were told not to sit in a certain area, but eventually Ahmed said it was ok. This happened to several other people to the point where people left because they felt uncomfortable being repeatedly told this place is not a place for you to sit. I should have known at this point not to go ahead with the order. I decided to order the peanut butter sizzle, but was told no you can't have it. What Ahmed meant was they didn't have it stocked instead he kept telling me to get the new item on the menu the pistachio profiteroles. When asked to get a coke, we were told they didn't have it. When our order arrived, we hadn't even had a bite and were asked how is the food - we replied fine as we understood he was trying to do his job. I realised my milk for my tea had black bits floating in it and there was a string of plastic attached to it. We tried to get someone's attention, but they were busy behind the counter. When Ahmed finally came past, he was busy trying to tell people not to sit in an area as he had just opened it. Once I spoke to him and showed him my milk, he replied oh it is just coffee in it and couldn't comment on the plastic on the side - a potential choking hazard. His flippant comment and disregard to me made me feel uncomfortable. The dessert I ordered in the end was a piece of cake freakshake. Looked great, sadly it was awful. The cake was DRY and stale and I barely ate it. My friend with me, who was a man, was told that the cake was dry because it tastes better warm. I've never heard something so ridiculous, if cake is fresh it wouldn't matter if it was hot or cold. What makes this whole situation worse was when I went to say something, Ahmed rolled his eyes at me and ignored me. I have seen the good reviews for this place but I have to say the only good thing about this place is the STUFF that works there which are very polite, now when it comes to ICE CREAM, I QM REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT, how am I meant to get COOKIES SUNDAe and it only comes with Vanilla ice cream (which is not good) and chocolate ice cream which is not good neither☹️🤬🤬, if I get a COOKIE ICE CREAM, the ice cream itself should be COOKIE, NOT VANILLA/CHOCOLATE, and some COOKIES on top, my friends got some ICE CREAM AND IT WAS THE SAME THING😩😩, VANILLA/CHOCOLATE and a bit of pistachios on top… if someone buys a ICE CREAM of a certain flavour you expect the ice cream to be of the flavour you choose, (not throug a bit pistachios on top and expect it to be a pistachio ICE CREAM…

We were suposed to go KASPAS (which have really nice ice cream and it was closed )hence why we ended up in URBAN DESERT PLACE.

IF YOU WANT TO GO TO A NICE PLACE FOR A DESERT GO TO KASPAS, as they know what they are doing…. Another thing KASPAS IS CHEAPER THAN URBAN PLACE, I will be completely honest I WOULD BE HAPPIER WITH A MC FLURY from Mac Donald’s any day than the ice cream from this URBAN PLACE, 9,95 thrown in the bin for real.

I am absolutely appalled at the way we were treated at this urban chocolatier, and especially how my friend (a lady) was treated as a woman. The discriminatory service she received is completely unacceptable.

The service needs to be sorted out immediately, and the staff need to understand that as customers, when we say there's an issue with the food or beverage provided, we are not saying it for fun. When my friend found plastic and black bits floating in her milk - a genuine health hazard - Ahmed dismissed her concerns with a comment and complete disregard.

The cake freakshake she ordered was dry and stale, yet when she raised this legitimate complaint, Ahmed rolled his eyes at her and blamed her for not complaining sooner. What made this even more insulting was how differently he treated me and her as she is a woman.

I was willing to pay for all other items on the bill except the inedible cake freakshake, but Ahmed kept going back and forth, not understanding the situation. When he called a so-called manager on the phone, I requested to speak to this manager directly but was denied the opportunity.

The blatant sexism, poor food quality, and appalling customer service make this place somewhere I would never recommend. No customer should be treated with such disrespect, especially based on...
