London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇Waterloo 🍺 £6.70 Estrella ❤️ A superb backstreet boozer in an atmospheric location. . Located in the backstreets in Waterloo and set amongst some of London's oldest workers cottages, you’ll find The White Hart. The nearest Tube is Waterloo which is a five minute stroll from here. . This pub dates back from 1848, the current building was built for the Wenlock Brewery in the 1930’s. In 2019 the pub received a sympathetic restoration by owners Mitchells & Butlers restoring the external signage. . The decor here is traditional with a contemporary twist, this creates a welcoming feel. At the heart of this pub is the beautiful island servery which is clad in shaker wood panels, has a solid mahogany counter and is lit by elegant brass pendants. The walls are a combination of pale and dark contrasting colours, plus exposed brickwork with colourful prints. The seating is a mix of low level tables and chairs, a poser table and stools by a ledge at the rear of the bar. At the front of the pub there are a few tables and chairs looking across to St Patrick’s church. . The beer selection was excellent and included five cask ales. My pint of choice was an Estrella, my pint was enjoyable but expensive. There is an elevated traditional pub grub menu available, Fish & Chips costs £16. . I visited on bank holiday Monday back in May. I arrived just after midday and the pub was quiet with a solo punter and a three ball in attendance. The service was good, the staff were upbeat and busy preparing the pub for the days trade. I loved the atmosphere here, it was calm and relaxing and felt like a great place to have a beer. . I love visiting this historic enclave in and around Roupell Street, not only does it have superb pubs like the @whitehartpubse1 but I love the feeling of stepping back in time amongst the 19th century architecture. The White Hart is a lovely boozer in a great location, whats not to like. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 08.05.23

Such a lovely atmosphere. Staff are incredibly friendly and it's a real pleasure to spend time here. The beer and ale selection is really impressive but the food here is the unsung hero. The burger menu on Mondays is really something to make more noise about. Artisanal burger plus a drink for under 12 quid is probably the best kept secret in the whole neighbourhood. But the snacking menu is also a delight. My weakness has always been padron peppers but often I find that when I go somewhere that offers this, they're undercooked or overdone. Here at the White Hart, the padron peppers are absolutely perfect! The other thing that deserves a mention is the quality of the WiFi. It may seem like a small detail but for freelancers like me, it's a huge thing which is why I have no issue coming here with my laptop, sitting in a corner and spending time working whilst listening to the awesome playlist they have here.

Gastro-pub? Maybe, but for me, not one at the top of the list. We had the halloumi fries with chili jam … these were possibly the best part of the lunch we had. Nice and cheesy and melted to the right degree. The jam was nice, with a good little hint of spice. The mango and avocado salad had all the right ingredients, it was just heavy on the dressing, resulting in a somewhat limp affair. The cheeseburger was described as “mediocre at best.” It wasn’t offensive. It just wasn’t good. The hangar steak was fine. Not fine dining. Oddly, the chips with the steak were far better than the chips with the burger. Perhaps these were out of the bag? They were certainly baked, not fried. And with thick chips and thin chips being markedly different than each other, but consistent in size for each dish, it really does suggest packaged product. An ok meal, but perhaps not at the height of a 4.5?

Dropped in for lunch during our London vacation excursion. The pub was empty when we walked in around 12:30pm. Bartender told us to take a seat, have a look at the menu and then come back to the bar and place our order.

Spent about 5 minutes deciding what we would eat. Unfortunately, when I order my cheeseburger, I was told there was a problem in the kitchen and they couldn't make the cheeseburger. Also informed me at that time there were a couple more options not available...the bangers with mash and the steak was not an option either. Went back to look at the menu and after a few minutes I returned to the bar and ordered the beef dip instead. Was again told "oh, sorry, that's not available either". Exasperated, I just asked "what can you make?" and ended up ordering the first thing that came out of his mouth, the Grilled Korean Chicken wrap (stupidly, we should have just left the place but had already invested some time to get there and review the menu, we just decided to stay).

When the food came out I was disappointed that the grilled wrap was cooked "open face" and when I tried to fold it over, the entire wrap broke apart in my hand like stale bread. I ended up eating it by scooping the contents of the wrap up with a fork. I will say though that the Korean Chicken pieces were delicious. Note to the kitchen, wraps should be closed/wrapped before they are grilled!!!

Before we left, a couple came in and had the exact same experience, word for word, that we had with the bartender...after reviewing the menu, tried to order their food and was told a few items aren't on the menu and then after placing the order a second time, was told again those items were also not on the menu. Seems like this place was purposely trying to steer people to order a handful of preselected dishes. That practice is called...

Went to this place for a gathering with 8 friends outside. I booked ahead which I would definitely recommend. Also I would not recommend outside seating for groups much larger than this as space is limited. All table are covered and some have heaters.

The fare was decent but I would say the highlight was the staff as they were so accommodating, allowing us to leave a birthday cake behind the bar to surprise a friend and were patient dealing with confusion we had over one person's vegetarian order even though I'm sure we were being a bit of a pain.

Im not sure if he is the GM or one of the AMs and I didn't catch his name but the manager on staff when we were there was one of the friendliest! Want to mention him specifically as he was so helpful without us even asking him to be!

If I was nitpicking I would say sometimes I think with the app and table service both being used that it was a little confusing and the service/communication could have been a little bit more consistent across staff because we sometimes got conflicted messages from different staff member but overall given lockdown is lifting and they were busy, they...
