I just had a very VERY bad experience. Called the restaurant to book a table for two and mentioned twice that I have a taste card that gives some discounts. Ensured by the person over the phone with "yes, no problem" I came with my partner for the buffet. After few minutes an old lady came to us to inform that the offer has changed and is no longer available. After few very disrespectful comments like "it's only few pounds more" (well, it's not about the money but the principles and the way the loyal customers are treated like) etc the lady started to explain that she was calling me to let me know about the change. So not only I was not informed about that over the phone while booking the table, also I found it very disrespectful as the lady LIED that she was calling me when she didn't. It's not the first time when I am so disappointed. It's worth to mention that not long ago while visiting Tierra Peru with my friends the waiter forced us to clean the plates. Literally he said that we have to eat absolutely everything. If not, we won't receive the bill. He highlighted that it's not his idea, that's what management wants him to enforce to the customers. How can anyone force people to eat while they're paying for what they order? I may understand if the plates were full of food but in fact all we had left on the plates were a bit of rice and a small portion of salad that we simply couldn't squeeze in the stomach. Apparently it's better to get food poisoned or have a stomach ache - isn't it? These and few more situations won't let me come back ever again. It's a shame cause Tierra Peru not only lost their loyal customers, also I will make sure that my friends will be aware of what they should expect from this restaurant. Completely killed...

We visited to try Peruvian food. The staff were friendly - gentle and kind, and helped recommend dishes to try. We had a starter of the Ceviche Tradicional £15 to share which tasted delicious and was the stand-out dish. The Limonada and Chicha Morada (soft drinks) were nice drinks too.
The mains were both nice enough, however the price felt very high for the quality: Lomo saltado de pollo (stir fried chicken breast with rice and chips) £26. Slightly basic as a dish, wouldn't recommend, as it's something that could be replicated more easily at home. Seco de cordero (stewed lamb and smoked beans) £24. Better than the other dish, but still a little expensive for the quality. Both I felt both were straight-forward dishes with uncomplicated presentation, and I would have expected them each at ~£15-20 each.
Altogether we spent £42 per head, but I felt the meal was worth more like £30. We have eaten at many restaurants in the area, some multiple times, and have a good sense of value. If it were priced better, we would probably come back.
The restaurant is perfectly nice inside, but we were unlucky and there was a group of ~6 'lads' who were speaking and laughing very loudly over each other the whole meal, so my partner and I couldn't hear each other well. I'm usually quite easy-going, but this spoilt the atmosphere and we both left with headaches. I think the restaurant owner or manager will have noticed, and could have had a polite word with them to keep the volume a little lower so other nearby tables could enjoy...
Read moreOverall we had a very enjoyable and very good meal. My Peruvian girlfriend was particularly happy with the authenticity of the meal. Everyone we had dinner with enjoyed their food and thought the atmosphere was enjoyable. The owners clearly enjoy their business and it shows in their interactions with customers.
Our only issue with the restaurant was that we had made a reservation for earlier in the day. After 35 minutes of travel we arrived before our reservation time to a full restaurant. I showed the hostess our confirmation and I was simply told that they were very busy and essentially we would be out of luck... I asked if they used that reservation website which they confirmed but that they were busy and that she couldn't do anything for us even with a reservation. I asked to speak with whoever manages the reservations to understand what happened but did not get to speak with them. Fortunately one table was finished/paying and a table became available with a 20 minute wait.
I'd love to give Tierra Peru an overall 5 stars but how the situation was handled didn't leave a good impression. If you're going to have a reservation system on your website then you...
