After looking around the Finsbury Park area to find a place for dinner, my best friend and I opted for this branch of Tonkotsu and we don't regret it. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming and the premises, including the toilets, are spotless. It was great to see they still take COVID seriously as we were offered the choice to order online using a QR code or to opt for paper menus.
The food was delicious and the portions were generous. In addition to a tasty starter of prawn, spring onion and ginger Gyoza, we ordered two different types of Ramen as a main course. The chilli chicken ramen was full of flavour and had the right level of spiciness. The limited edition Mazesoba ramen was absolutely delicious and I would love to see it permanently included in the menu.
The food was definitely yummy but what made our visit even more special and enjoyable were the lovely members of staff who served us. Omar and Carl were friendly, charming and showed genuine interest when interacting with us. As soon we we arrived, Omar was fantastic at answering questions about the menu and helping us select the food. You can tell he's very knowledgeable and could point us to the right types of ramen that would suit our taste. Carl was great and he clearly goes above and beyond to make sure all the customers are enjoying the food, offering a very professional yet unintrusive customer service. Although the restaurant was about to close, they even took the time to have a friendly chat with us after we finished our meal.
Thanks a lot to Omar, Carl and the kitchen staff for the great experience you provided us with. You were fab! We can't wait to go back.
UPDATE: My best friend and I visited this branch for the second time and, in addition to the delicious food, once again we were blown away by the excellent customer service provided by ALL the members of staff.
A lovely lady called Roser was simply amazing. She not only displayed excellent menu knowledge and made great recommendations but she also checked everything was fine all the time. She made our visit quite memorable thanks to her charming personality and professional attitude!
Even the kitchen staff also found the time to interact with us whilst they were still performing their duties. We definitely enjoyed talking to lovely Rafi, who has a warm and friendly manner.
We love the food at this restaurant but the staff is definitely its ...
Read moreMy family and I had a fantastic evening at Tonkotsu in Finsbury Park restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed - the Manager personally showed us to our table, setting a friendly tone for the night. The staff gave us ample time to look through the menu, though I was asked (politely!) twice within a few minutes if I was ready to order which showed they were attentive, though maybe just a touch too eager.
I accidentally ordered the wrong dish due to a small misunderstanding, and the Manager handled it graciously. Rather than make it awkward, he simply asked if we’d like to keep the dish while the correct one was prepared. That gesture really stood out to me - it showed professionalism, a genuine desire to ensure we had a good experience and genuine compassion for tired parents.
When my correct order arrived, it did not disappoint. The broth was absolutely delicious - rich and perfectly seasoned and the noodles were incredibly fresh! The Waiter later mentioned they’re made locally daily, which made the dish even more impressive.
To top it all off, we were pleasantly surprised when we received the bill - our child’s meal was complimentary. The restaurant has a ‘ kids eat free’ promotion during the summer holidays (as food and activities can really add up) and they honoured it for us. A small but meaningful gesture that we really appreciated.
Overall, the combination of great food, thoughtful service, and genuine hospitality made this a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back - and highly recommending...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Tonkotsu, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The star of the show was undoubtedly their ramen.
The broth was rich and creamy, with a depth of flavor that can only come from hours of slow simmering. It had the perfect balance of chicken and noodles, making each spoonful a comforting delight. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of chewiness.
But what truly set this restaurant apart was the attentive service provided by the staff. Shama and Sian went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready with a smile.
The ambiance of the restaurant was also worth mentioning. It had a cozy yet modern feel, with soft lighting and tasteful decor that added to the overall dining experience.
Overall, my visit to Tonkotsu was nothing short of fantastic. If you're craving authentic ramen served with a side of excellent service, look no further than this gem of a restaurant. Highly...
