Think local Mediterranean restaurant vibe meets central London. The owner sits in the corner with his friends and directs the staff to do things every so often. The staff don’t really know what’s going on, don’t understand gluten allergies (overheard a customer ask) they take guidance from the owner, who doesn’t look like he wants to be there whenever he has to get up and do something.
The food The food is awful, cheap food from whoever their wholesaler is? Probably Bookers, sold at an extortionate price. I had a pizza which was definitely frozen and cooked for a huge markup, even for London. It was just a bad pizza. Had a halloumi starter, was basically what I’d expect in Wetherspoons, dry handful of lettuce thrown on a plate, probably prepared a few days ago by the looks of it, and a token dry cucumber and tomato slice at the end. It tasted alright to be fair.
The drinks £8.50 a pint is probably fair enough, but only 1 beer on tap so is lacking- it’s lager not beer anyway. The wine wasn’t great, wasn’t awful, but the price was probably on par for a restaurant, and the quantity you get.
The Service Can’t fault it, the girls were doing their jobs!
To be honest, I just looked at the place, from the tables; the decor (plastic flowers hanging from a ceiling) the glasses on the table etc- you know the type, thick beaker type things; the owner and his friends sitting on the corner on their phones… you know it’s going to be “cheap and cheerful” but it isn’t cheap. It’s expensive for this experience. Just go to Wetherspoons down the road, it’s always busy too.
I’ve seen the owner respond to some comments on here calling them lies- you can tell the type of person they are when they say that.
As you can see they have replied with a pretty...
Read moreWe decided to try Tower Bridge Kitchen for our Dinner as it looked like a lovely homemade style pizza restaurant and they had an offer on the board outside for a margarita pizza and pint for £12 which sounded great for London centre. Unfortunately we were let down on service and the offer. There were only 3 other tables occupied however service was limited. I asked about the offer on the board and was told it was a lunch time deal, it didn't state this on the board and at 19.30pm was still being advertised. I suggested she should write that on it or bring the board in. she said 'she didn't know ' and shrugged off the suggestions. Disappointed ,we ordered anyway. There was only 1 choice of draught beer, Cobra(incase anyone fancies the LUNCH deal) we received our pizzas approximately 30 minutes later and they were lovely, good sizes and very tasty. We did have to flag the waitress down to order more drinks and the table next to us had to flag her down for parmigiano for their pasta as they hadn't been offered any. No one offered us any pepper or parmigiano either or came back to check everything was OK. When receiving the bill a service charge of 12% was already added. Due to feeling like we really hadn't received great service we asked if it could be changed to our own choice of tip and we were told it was company policy she didn't know how to change it , sorry and again just shrugged. We came away from our experience here disappointed and wishing we'd just tried somewhere else as soon as the offer wasn't on as £53.50 for 4 beers and 2 pizzas with mediocre service wasn't great. The picture is of the board still out false...
Read moreVery nice restaurant with a relatively large selection of dishes. The service staff is very friendly and you feel very comfortable there. Our starters were ok (humus and bruschetta). But my main course was not my taste at all. The lasagna was very greasy and drowned in béchamel sauce in the one pasta dish that was available. There was also a complete lack of seasoning. I couldn't taste any tomatoes from the Bolognese or any salt. Too bad, so I left three quarters of the dish. Maybe they should season the sauce better beforehand and not drown it in béchamel. The prices are also in no way in relation to the goods served. And since all reviews that the owner doesn't like are answered with some kind of excuse. We were there in the afternoon, there were quite a few tables free and when we asked, it was no problem to get a table without a reservation. As some tables were not yet reserved. We could choose between 4 tables. Of course we didn't finish the food and told the employee that it was too greasy, too much béchamel and didn't taste good. But it's not her fault because she didn't cook it. I also read a lot in the other comments here afterwards that greasy food is often served here. Unfortunately, I hadn't checked this here. If I had, I would have saved myself the money. The positive stars go exclusively to the service and...
