We recently discovered Vantra during a short trip to London, and I’m so glad we did! Honestly, it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.
We started with the vegan “meat” skewers in a peanut-like sauce. So flavorful that we kept the plate on the table just to dip our fries into the sauce later (it was that good!). Then came a kind of flatbread topped with fresh ingredients, and finally the absolute highlight: a sushi burger served with a mix of potato and sweet potato fries, delicious dips, and a side salad. Now, I usually don’t even eat salad, but this one had a yogurt-based dressing that was so tasty I practically devoured it. Everything on that plate was a win.
What stood out to me is how Vantra manages to cook with a focus on health and protein-rich meals, but without ever falling into the “healthy but tasteless” stereotype. Everything was vibrant, flavorful, and satisfying. The whole menu felt unique and adventurous! Nothing “standard” or boring, but carefully thought-out dishes that make you excited to try something new.
The drinks menu was just as impressive. They had a wide variety of creative cocktails and “Vocktails”. As someone who loves alcohol-free cocktails, I was thrilled to see so many tasty options. I could have happily tried them all! My boyfriend went for a milkshake and it was equally tasty.
The atmosphere at Vantra was another highlight. My partner and I are both neurodivergent, and after a full day in busy, overwhelming London, stepping into this restaurant felt like entering another world. The lighting was gentle (bright enough but not harsh), the music was calm, and we could talk easily without raising our voices. Another big plus was that the restaurant wasn’t crowded or noisy. There was enough space to feel comfortable and relaxed. We actually asked about it, and were told that while it can be busier on event days, it’s usually a peaceful place to eat. That made the whole experience even more enjoyable for us. Even the restrooms were clean and well-kept, which for me is always an important detail and a definite plus.
The service was kind and welcoming throughout, and at the end we even had a lovely chat with one of the staff members who explained more about the restaurant. She mentioned how fully vegan restaurants are unfortunately declining in the UK, which made me feel even more strongly about supporting places like Vantra. They absolutely deserve it.
The only minor point I could mention is that there isn’t a menu available on the website. But after hearing the reason (the menu changes seasonally, depending on what’s available), it made perfect sense and actually reflects the restaurant’s commitment to freshness and creativity.
All in all, Vantra is an absolute must-visit, not only for vegans but for anyone open to trying something truly unique and delicious. We left so happy with our choice and will definitely return next time...
Read moreI’ve wanted to visit for a long time and finally made it. I wasn’t wowed by the look or feel of the place and can see why others may have walked before eating, but I knew not focus on the basement look, and to look at the menu where the real magic happens. Talking of which… we ordered the magical mushroom, a thai twist and a side of fish to try. Now we were wowed …
Thai Twist - it’s described as a vegetable, sprout and seaweed noodles, with exotic fruit, tree nuts, flaxseeds, spices and tahini. Those ingredients do not convey what I tasted - it was a flavour explosion blowing my mind. I struggled to work out how everything tasted different but melded into a heavenly spicy but sweet, light but filling delight that made me want more. This has to be my favourite salad ever now. I’m sorry I can’t describe it better. It’s amazing.
Ordering the Magical Mushroom was a superb choice too. Talk about a hearty meal with a complex marriage of flavours and perfectly al dente garden vegetables. The mushrooms wouldn’t be up everyone’s street and the texture is slimy, but for me they couldn’t have been cooked any better. They retained their bite, flavour and the slimy sauce accentuated the taste bringing out every element a mushroom is savoured for. 10/10
Vegan Fish? Having been a big fish eater in the past this was mackerel. It looked like it. Tasted like it. The texture was perfect. It would fill anyone. Cooked in a teriyaki sauce it was simply devine. I’ll be having this in a dish when I return.
After opening in 1999, I can see why it’s still open over 22 years later. We’ll done...
Read moreVantra on Wardour Street is an absolute gem for anyone seeking delicious, healthy, and vibrant raw vegan food. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
The menu is a plant-based dream come true, with an incredible variety of dishes that are as nourishing as they are flavorful. I would highly recommend the Nori Roll perfect for pairing with their vibrant dip, which is a delightful blend of fresh, crisp vegetables wrapped in nutrient-rich seaweed. The Thai Twist is the best I’ve ever had, bursting with authentic flavours and just the right amount of spice. And don’t miss out on the Flaxseed Cracker—crispy, full of flavour and texture.
The desserts are another highlight—every sweet treat is raw, vegan, and absolutely divine. The raw apple pie and chocolate mousse and raspberry cake are out of this world, offering a perfect balance of richness and sweetness without any of the guilt. They were the perfect way to round off an already amazing meal.
What sets Vantra apart is not just the food, but their commitment to sustainability and health. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, eager to share the benefits of raw and vegan cuisine. The attention to detail in both preparation and presentation is impeccable.
