This is a combined cafe / gift shop by the entrance to Kew gardens. It's the same high standard of choice for cold and hot options in food n beverages so you can expect to get usual scones, carrot, chocolate cake, pastries and lattes etc. There are picnic tables nearby so you're not restricted to eating inside if it's too noisy or you want to combine personal picnic with cafe purchases. I don't have photos of the food because l was immersed in the shop which has a fantastic selection of gifts from the lowly pencil n pen to artisan chutneys, jams, crockery, scarves, gardening tools, and Kew memorabilia including beautiful framed tree prints. I defy anyone to browse and leave without a purchase. More importantly if you're a Jew member you get 10% off your bill. Unfortunately we didn't sign up until after it was mentioned. We went to the sign up desk outside the plaza and were refunded our ticket price for the day against the cost of an annual membership card. Brilliant value for money. Kew is definitely a London treasure where the experience is hands on unlike visiting somewhere like the Tower of London which l still haven't been in and...
Read moreI recently visited this café in Kew Gardens and had a very concerning experience. After eating the quiche, my partner felt unwell, raising serious concerns about the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The dish also had a strong sulfuric smell, which can indicate improper storage or preparation.
When I raised this with the manager, instead of taking the concern seriously, she simply stated that the quiche 'tasted fine' to her and suggested that it might have been the peas I didn’t like. This completely dismissed my concern, which was not about personal preference but about food safety. Offering me something to drink was not the solution—the real issue is that this dish should not be served at all if it has the potential to cause food poisoning.
Apart from this, the general customer service was fine, but I believe a manager should be more attentive to serious food safety concerns. I strongly urge the café to review its food safety standards to protect...
Read moreWe went with two friends to Kew Gardens. As it was so cold we decided to go into the cafe first. We ordered our coffees etc. When I got my latte (no full fat milk here) it was the most Luke warm coffee I've ever had in my life, and I wasn't impressed. I took it back and politely told the girl it was almost cold. The lady in charge poured it down the sink and the girl made me another, which was almost right. Although to be honest it was a very weak coffee, and at £3.50 it wasn't good value. Just a normal butter croissant is £3.50 which is ridiculous. My friend also felt the same about the coffee. When we were leaving I had a chat with the manager and she agreed that they should use milk thermometers. She was very nice and offered to make my coffee next time. As for full fat milk the owners of the cafe have been informed that some customers want full fat milk but they (the owners) know better and...
