The cheapest you can wash and dry a small load for here is ten pounds, probably closer to twelve if you're drying anything heavy like jeans or towels (a medium load is five pounds and the dryer rate is ten minutes per pound).
There's no change machine so bring lots of coins including four twenty pence pieces, since that's the only denomination the detergent dispenser accepts. Be careful not to get detergent on your hands when opening the box because there's no sink there to rinse it off.
