I used to love Yak & Yeti. Lovely staff, great service and most of all brilliant food. In fact if we go out for an evening meal in crystal palace, we’d rarely go anywhere else. However on our last trip I was so disgusted by the hygiene practices I witnessed I doubt I will ever go there again! A waiter had possibly the worst cold I have ever witnessed and continually sniffed up snot back into his nose. When he could no longer control it by sniffing, I watched him pull down on his nose and wipe it on his fingers, which he then wiped on his trousers. This happened five or sic times, inbetween which he served people their food. He was also the main guy wiping cutlery and glasses, most of which were probably covered in his snot. However it got worse. Having a table at the back of the restaurant, I watched him blow his nose in a napkin and throw it down by all the other clean ones. And it was left there the entire time we were there. God only knows whether it was refolded and put back. After this I couldn’t really enjoy my food, even though it was still great, as he brought it out and all I could think of was his bogeys all over it. Needless to say, within 24 hours me and the husband were struck down with flu, or at best a very bad cold. Utterly disgusting. If you have a cold that means your nose is running non stop, you shouldn’t be at work in a...
Read moreHave just left the restaurant as hungry as we went in. It took an hour and a half for our food to arrive, and when it did, the portion was small.
The service from the waiter was literally non existent. He didn't come over to check on us or explain why the food was taking so long. We managed to catch his attention at one point and we were just ignored. The table opposite also tried to get the managers attention and he walked right past them.
Eventually the waiter came and literally threw plates onto our table (to the point they bounced slightly) and stormed off.
He got very aggressive when we asked not to pay the £2.80 service charge. Offered no apology and made us feel like it was somehow our fault that it was busy.
The food its self was very disappointing, especially after such a long wait. No discount or apology was offered.
Lots of staff standing around doing nothing, chefs were serving food at the tables... the entire place was a mess. Also as we sat there starving hungry they kept bringing out bags and bags of delivery food... clearly prioritising those over in-person customers..
Terrible experience, ruined our night. Would not recommend...
Read moreCame with a group of seven, having had the restaurant recommended. Quite disappointing. Friday night and fairly empty. There were numerous staff who were polite and attentive but although poppadoms arrived immediately, the rest of our food took a long long time to arrive and it came in dribs and drabs, probably ten mins before it was all there by which time the first items were getting cold. The onion bhajis must've been reheated several times as they were hard and dry. The vegetable samosas were in an unusual batter-type pastry but were so hard we couldn't cut through them - microwaved to death, I think. My vegetable biryani was actually very nice( apart from the chunks of paneer cheese in the rice which I didn't like but maybe others would) but the curry that came with it was full of almost raw carrot and very little else. I think some of the chicken dishes that were ordered were ok but the portions of rice were very small, especially comparing them to the biriani rice which was at least double the amount. All in all, it was an ok meal but I'd...
