Oh dear. Oh very dear. Look, I wanted to like this place (I had a takeaway). I had high hopes. But I should have listened to the reviews. The chicken satay sticks were as spindly as pencils, tasted like rubber and had no discernible taste of either chicken nor satay. They went in the bin.
The fried rice seemed like it had maybe glanced the way of a frying pan but that was it, being the least fried fried rice I've ever encountered. The mangy prawns in it tasted of that chemical solution they use to clean portaloos, and had to be picked out – and the prawns are meant to be the best bit!
The satay sauce, my god, the satay sauce. Was it even satay sauce? It was definitely water, and a lot of chili, and perhaps a vague dash of something peanutty. It was far more scalding than any satay sauce should be and god, I missed the peanut. Top tip: don't dilute your satay sauce with water and then cover the lack of taste with chilis.
It pains me to leave a bad review because I was really hopeful! But it felt like a total waste of money and it was expensive. I really hope Yien can up their game as at the moment it feels like they're getting away with...
Read moreWe ordered today and received rice with hair inside of it and only recognised it when it was in the mouth. When called up about a refund or something to be done about this, they said they wear hair nets. They are also known to provide small portions and that’s exactly what I got. The manager turned up at our front door demanding for money that was already paid, trying to accuse us of not paying but got us mistaken for someone who must not have paid. We had to show proof that we had paid, even though she took the payment herself in the restaurant over the phone. Which was absolutely ridiculous. this is such a shame because with more professionalism these things would not have happened. The fact that I did not receive a partial if not full refund is a liberty. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but when this persisted to happen, it was a massive...
Read moreI thought I would give this place a try, and I am very disappointed. I ordered special fried rice, which was bland and overall extremely disappointing. The chicken balls were the worst thing I have ever received from a restaurant in my life – they were absolutely soaked in oil. If you squeezed them even slightly, oil would drip everywhere. The chicken inside was just a thin slice of cheap, pre-bought rubbish. Honestly, it nearly made me feel sick.
The beef chow mein was just about passable, but again bland and nothing special. Overall, this was without doubt the worst Chinese takeaway I have ever had. If that is the standard of food they are serving, I cannot see them lasting much longer.
Service was acceptable, but the atmosphere was completely non-existent when I went to collect – although, given the quality of the food, that is hardly surprising....
