After attending my cousins baby shower on Sunday, which was booked a month in advance, I couldn’t believe the poor service and food we received. Over all the day cost £600, not including the balloons and table decorations we bought with us. Firstly we were told and agreed more than once, we would have 5 tables all facing each-other to we could be together as a group. Wrong. We were in fact seated on FOUR tables, in a row, where the next table couldn’t even speak to the one next door. Therefore in small groups of 5 or 6, so any baby shower actives we had planned weren’t possible, it also left us 5 seats short which meant a few of our party had to sit on bar stools away from the rest of the already separated groups. Even after communicating on the morning of the party we were never told that we couldn’t be accommodated.
The afternoon tea we booked and paid for a month In advance, was advertised to us to be presented in lovely bird cages, one cage per table. Once everyone was seated we were told there was no birdcages and that actually the afternoon teas were not going to fit on our tables, so instead the sandwiches cakes and scones were put onto a single table where we all had to go and get our own food, (we hadn’t booked a buffet or Childs party)
The food itself was laughable for £21.50 a head. A choice of three badly made sandwiches, one of which was inedible. The “desserts” consisted of Mr Kipling lemon slices (the ones you get 5 for a £1.00 in the supermarket!) although they did put a single petal on top of each one! Nice touch I guess! Another of the desserts was a bowl of cream with chopped up pineapple and kiwi in it. A large bowl for us all 30 of us to share. Once again, this was not a child’s party.
The tea and coffee was nice. Although we received no teaspoons with them, so we used a fork to stir our drinks, was easier than asking the extremely unhelpful staff for one seen as we had already waited a long time for the drinks to arrive.
One of our guest members over heard one of the members of staff saying we should have cleared our own tables at the end of our visit. Once again, throughout a month of communication we were never told that clearing away our own dishes was the deal with our £600 meal.
Overall this expereince which was meant to be lovely 27 days before my cousin gave birth, ended up a total disappointment to which not one member of the group was pleased with.
We will never be recommending this to anyone for a meal never mind a special occasion as they clearly aren’t capable of providing a...
Read moreAlbert’s Didsbury Parking limited at busy times, stressful. It’s about time Albert’s changed their meat supplier!! Steak frites always tough, sinus throughout, rib eye steaks same issue. Even the fillet mignon was below standard! The menu is very limited. £35.20 for Cloud Factory Sauvignon blanc is tantamount to extortion when it retails for £10.85 and even less wholesale. And before some smart Alec responds that’s the wrong price- NO IT ISN’T not when you include the 10% service charge. If you order a large glass (250ml) then the price goes up to the equivalent of £39.60 a bottle!!! After several complaints about the temperature of the wine I have automatically ordered a pint of ice to cool the wine down to an acceptable temperature because I know it’s going to be too warm!!! Which is a cardinal sin in my view! Albert’s food standards are in inexorable and steadily decline as I have as experienced following recent visits! Albert’s have even succeeded in upsetting my grandchild by removing the chocolate brownies from the children’s sundae and the size is substantially smaller but the price had risen to 4.75 . Used to be £3.50. What cheap skates!! The manager and Lucy, the part owner of Albert’s need to visit Canteena in Sale to sample how good food should taste and take note of more realistic prices and not to take advantage of being located in a ‘posh’ location such as Didsbury. While we are on the subject of locations, I would like to inform you that “Albert’s Worsley” is located in Swinton which you must have thought that Albert’s cannot be associated with such a riff raff area. Shame on you!!! I bet the people of Swinton are not happy!! As you may have gathered I have had it with this chain of restaurants. It look awhile but I have finally taken to writing this negative review following many face to...
Read moreA group of seven of us went here, I had the two course, “Starter & Main Meal. First I had Broccoli & Stilton Soup which was very nice. Then Ordered the Ramen, as I started eating the Ramen I realised that having Ramen straight after the Soup was Not a good Idea, and unfortunately needed the loo, I left the Table and asked my friends to ask the Waitress to Pack the Ramen up so that I could take it home to eat later. After coming back to the table we were all ready for leaving, the bill had been paid and we all set off for home, My friend had brought my Ramen to the Car for me and put it in my car, later when I looked at the container, it was quite small, I didn’t understand because I’d only had three or four Spoonfuls, I’d mentioned it to my friend and was told that the Waitress, when told to put it into a container to take home had told them that she had to pour the liquid Out of the Ramen because it would have leaked out and that they don’t have Containers for anything that has liquid in it, 🤷♀️ I couldn’t believe it, I think that half the Ramen was poured out with the liquid, I cannot understand that a place like the Albert would Not have Containers Suitable to take soup like food home. I ended up paying ( which was not cheap ) for food that I only received a quarter of . I would also like to add that you need to be aware, that if you do go to the Albert’s, Didsbury, that if you do go for the Two Or Three Courses, that they are only Very Small Portions. Definitely not worth the Prices that they Charge. I’d advise Albert’s to purchase some Containers that are Suitable for Ramen doggy bags. Each one of the seven of us were very Very...
