We were looking forward to our meal here for a while as it was our friends favourite! We arrived and got a nice welcome, one of the cocktails we ordered wasn't right and the lady behind the bar was very accommodating (removed it from the bill) but I am not sure if that got our card marked.
We ordered our food and they were accommodating to some allergies within our party. Whilst eating the meal, one member of our party got a bit of steak caught in his throat, tried to clear it with a drink which resulted in all coming up and landing on the floor under the table. Embarrassed and mortified by the ordeal, he waited until everyone else had finished their meal and then went and requested some blue roll to clear it up, he made sure nobody else touched it and ensured it was cleaned up.
When they took our plates away they asked if we would like anything else, we ordered a few drinks which they server seemed happy with. Then, the original waitress (tall, young and blonde) came up to the table and accused that person in the party for being to drunk and she wouldn't serve us which we responded he has had one glass of wine at the table. She responded saying you have had cocktails too. The individual who she stated was too drunk to be served had had two drinks the entire evening - one cocktail and one glass of wine. Nobody at the restaurant actually checked if he was okay at any point or even communicated with us - she would have clearly seen he wasn't drunk and disorderly if she had made any effort to seek this information out. They then said they were happy to serve us, however at this point we didn't feel comfortable staying.
An event that totally spoiled our evening, as a group of four friends in our 30-40s we do not expect to be falsely accused of something when enjoying a civilised evening. The member of staff was totally unacceptable, we are incredibly insulted and it really questions the integrity...
Read moreVisited for Sunday Dinner. Lovely little place, cosy and nice decor. Expensive selection for food and drink, so expected a good experience.
Drinks had a weirdly limited selection for non-alcoholic choices and were much more expensive than other local comparable establishments (£3.70 for equivalent of a can of Diet Coke), those that ordered alcoholic drinks found they were £1-£1.50 more expensive than neighbouring establishments for similar or the same product.
Food selection was good for a Sunday dinner and everything needed. Ordered the beef dinner and cauliflower cheese for the table. Portion was good, good amounts of veg and meat, cauliflower cheese was very small for £6.50, the veg was mostly okay, carrots and green beans were under cooked. Should have been a bit more potatoes, but mash was good, roasties were over cooked but good Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was severely lacking, thin and not much with only an option to ask for more at £1.50 which is a poor decision.
Staff were blunt and uninterested beyond the bare minimum.
Overall not bad but not great which is nowhere near what you should expect when paying £25-£30 each for a Sunday Dinner, so poor value for money in my opinion and honestly underwhelmed (competitors in local area and Manchester City centre you could get better cor cheaper or the same...
Read moreI've been coming here now on and off for a number of years and I've really not had a bad experience. The staff are always considerate, friendly and helpful so you can't go wrong for a good experience if you're visiting for a drink or something to eat. Weekend dinner reservations are a must. I don't think I've ever seen a table on a Saturday night that doesn't have a reserved notice on it. The food is absolute class. Small plates menu gives plenty of choice and opportunity, often with new dishes offered to give every visit a new twist. Vibrant worldly dishes that will impress you time and time again. Nothing is spared in delivering absolute quality every time. Vast drinks menue with real ales being changed almost bi-weekly and a good choice of wines and fizz. Personally enjoy the house prosecco and cava which seem to relatively compliment most dishes but if you feel like pushing the boat out they offer a fantastic tattinger brut, enjoyable every time. Photos include the dishes I tried this evening. One dish I actually ordered again as it was so enjoyable...
