DO NOT ORDER! Very rude owner and unwilling to rectify mistakes. I wish I’d seen the other reviews before contacting, as there seems to be a consistent poor level of customer service.

My experience:

I ordered a cake for my girlfriend’s birthday. I admit, it was short notice and it needed delivering within 3 days, so I was so pleased when Ruth said she would be able to deliver the cake on the day. The flavour of the cake was specified as banoffee on the phone, and that it had to be dairy free, to which she said would be absolutely fine. A premium price of £65 was agreed. She did say that she did not have a pen to hand at the time.

The cake was delivered, not in a box, and covered in white icing so the inside was not visible. Upon cutting the cake later that day, it was Victoria sponge and not banoffee which was very disappointing, considering the flavour is such an important part of ordering a cake. The jam and buttercream layer was so thin it was almost non existent. I didn’t want to ruin the birthday celebrations by getting in touch with her instantly, so I left it for a couple of days later.

I let Ruth know that the cake was the wrong order, and politely requested a refund. This request was completely ignored until I chased her again and asked her to acknowledge it.

I was told she would not refund me because the cake had been delivered and eaten. This completely misses the point of a £65 product. If you ordered a beer in a bar, you wouldn’t just accept a coffee would you? Ruth argued that the flavour should have been specified in writing and practically blamed me for her forgetting the order. I reminded her that £65 is extortionate to receive the wrong order and politely asked her to reconsider. I questioned whether it was even dairy free or not.

She then offered me £10 “as a gesture of good will”. Good will! I couldn’t believe it. I then again, explained how the flavour of a cake is the focal part of it and she got it wrong. I understand mistakes happen, but it’s essential to recover them and take accountability.

I couldn’t accept the £10 as I found it far too insulting. In my last message to her, I called her a crook. I regret sending such a reactive message, but let’s be honest - judging by some of the other reviews on here, it can’t be far...

Awful. Please avoid this unprofessional lady. If I could 0 stars I would, even the one is being kind. I booked a cake for my DAUGHTER'S first birthday well in advance and gave a £20 deposit. Ruth said she would give me an email confirmation of what I ordered and deposit. A week later nothing. Rang her and just said yep do it when you can. A month later nothing. Again more phone calls. But again there was nothing. She told me she was with a new internet provider and she had done the email. I then asked her to post out the receipt and confirmation in the post. Said she had....again I received nothing. This woman lies, again, again and again its embarrassing. She states she has done what she was asked and it never materialises. I finally 6 weeks after placing the order cancelled it and asked for the deposit back. It was a monday and she said she would do it. By wednesday I rang up and said there was nothing in my account and again she apologised and said she had done it Monday night, and had no idea why it hadn't gone in - probably Ruth because you hadn't paid it in the first place! By Friday I rang her again and fed me a sob story of her daughter and her being ill - what had this got to do with paying a deposit 5 days earlier? She then went onto say she would get her husband to pay in £20 deposit at the bank- so if she had did it online why would she get him to go to the bank on Friday... So as it happens I'm still waiting. This is very genuine, and I would like others to be well aware of her antics... Stay well clear! No one would take their time out to write a review if they were not clearly aggrieved, hence there must be some truth...

I rang Ruth two days before my birthday and she visited me (the day I rang) to discuss cake options. I had to order my cake very last minute and she was perfect in catering to that. She was very helpful in deciding what the cake should look like, what flavors work best and the sizing of the cake according to how many people would be attending. Her service was very personal and i loved the wide range of exciting flavors she has.

The cake was for my 21st birthday and therefore in the shape of a 2 and a 1. One of the cakes was lemon flavored and the other was raspberry ripple to cater to all my guests. I really liked the taste and look of both cakes as did all my guests but i personally did not like the taste of the fondant that decorated the cake. I preferred the cake without it, although it tastes much better than icing.

The cake pricing is a little out of my budget than I usually spend on cakes but for the amount of guests I was catering for, it seemed to be okay.

Ruth was lovely and the service was great. I will definitely order...
