Update** I have emailed the address given four times and have received no help or answers. I have even cc’d in the other email address given online, in hopes of a reply. This has been over 2 weeks so ample time to reply. Please do not put an email in your comments for customers to contact you if it’s clearly all for show, trying to convey to anyone reading reviews that you present as a concerned business who wants to do right by customers. This has just added to my disappointment and if you could actually get hold of anyone at this establishment I would be asking for my bill to be fully refunded! Just paying lip service in the hopes of getting future custom.
What a difference a year makes. We came here to celebrate Lunar New Year, after such a great time last year and unfortunately we won’t be coming back in any capacity. Having spent £15 just to reserve a table and after having a good experience last year I was confident it would be great. Now I am £70 down and feel more than disappointed. I hate to leave bad reviews and very rarely find myself doing so. The place was chaotic, the DJ was fab but way way too loud for a place to eat, I literally couldn’t hear what the person sat next to me way saying. I get that it was a celebration, but it wasn’t really in keeping with a restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. The place was dirty with food and bits of rubbish all over the floor, tables weren’t cleared and it looked a state. I took my little boy to the toilet and was shocked to see it was even worse in there. Every toilet was barely usable, there were discarded McDonalds wrappers and a bag of McDonalds food all over the place and toilet seats that were half broken and sharp to touch, very dangerous with children around. With the DJ and the mess, it really did feel like a dirty sticky nightclub at 2am. I understand the food comes out when it’s ready, which is no problem, but you would expect drinks to arrive at some point. Myself and my children had virtually finished our food when they came. I wouldn’t mind, but the children’s drinks were just pre-made Fruit Shoots, so I have no idea why it took an hour for them to arrive. I asked a total of of 3 staff members 6 times about the drinks and nothing was done, the staff all seemed to have an air of being lackadaisical and not attentive to customers whatsoever. I was told I would be refunded for my drinks, but received nothing. I waited a full 15 mins after we wanted to leave to find someone to speak too about this, but there were zero staff around to ask. After walking back up 3 floors with 2 kids I found one member of staff, who told me I needed to go all the way back down to the basement to speak to someone. This was supposed to be a treat for my children and money I would be happy to spend if we received anywhere near the same experience as last year. I am actually rather upset today, I have lost a good amount of money and come away with nothing but a bad experience. It’s a shame as we did enjoy coming here, but the mess and the less than poor service has...
Read moreWe pre booked as we were going on a Saturday night so wanted to make sure we had a table. To pre-book you have to pay £5pp in advance which it says will be taken off your bill. When we arrived we asked the man at the top level and he said to head straight down to the bottom. We got to the bottom and had no idea what to do? There was no member of staff waiting for us to tell us where to go, no staff in sight! We headed over to the bar / kitchen area and basically had to interrupt someone to tell them we had a reservation so they could seat us. They sat us down and moved our reservation sign with our name on to another table. Then we scanned the QR code and looked at the menu to which we suddenly thought well if we pay on our phones how exactly do I get my deposit off the bill?? I again had to go and find a member of staff to ask, to which he said, "umm no idea ask her" and pointed to someone else. I was then told oh it's a different system so you'll just be refunded in a few days. Not a great system at all, so now I'm £20 down and have to hope I get refunded! When the food came out we had items forgotten that weren't brought out and AGAIN had to find a member of staff to ask for them (they were definitely forgotten not just brought out at different times as one was a sauce that didn't turn up and we waited a good 15mins before asking a member of staff incase it was just on its way). The food itself was ok, nothing special for the expensive price though and the beef inside the bao bun was extremely fatty and tough to eat. Typical Asian food really and the sauce in the bao buns has dyed my nails yellow. I also ordered an ice cream which turned out to be the really cheap Mr whippy type ice cream, and we ordered alcoholic bubble teas which were disgusting. And to top it all, we've all had bad stomachs since....
Read moreFirst time at Hello Oriental and I have to say it wasn't the best experience. I went with a group of 12, and they were nice enough to help us find seating for us but that was probably the nicest thing they've done. We all ordered with the QR code which saved us from having to work out the bill, but everything came out at different times. And when I say different times, it was like 20-30 minutes. While 3 people were eating/finishing their meal, 2 more orders would be brought to the table and the rest would still be waiting another 20-30 minutes. I was one of the unlucky ones who never got their food to the table after waiting over an hour... I had to go up 2 times prior to ask about my food and it just never came. The restaurant wasn't even fully packed. I could see empty tables all around me so I don't know what could have possibly happened for them to have missed my order. I ended up just asking them to box it to take home cause at that point everyone else had finished eating, the atmosphere was ruined by all the waiting, and I would just be holding everyone up... They were nice enough to comp the Korean fried chicken I ordered, but to be quite honest the food wasn't good. Maybe it would have been better hot, who knows, but the Korean fried chicken was hard and chewy as hell by the time I got home to have my dinner at 10:45pm (got to the restaurant at 8:30pm and ordered at 9pm). But the one redeeming quality is probably the strawberry daiquiri. I still had to wait 30 minutes for it, but damn, probably one of the best I've had (hence...
