Great place and unique atmosphere but I just have to point out the attitude I received from one of your staff (a blonde barmaid). I went to the bar to order some drinks and did my best to say my order as loud as possible but she misheard me and opened a can of beer instead of what I wanted and handed it to me. Now I know it's not her non my fault that the music was loud but as soon as i told her that that's not what I wanted she pulled the angriest and most annoyed face ever and kept serving me by clearly showing how annoyed she is that she opened a can of red stripe by mistake. She was also very keen on avoiding eye contact with me when i stayed on the bar to ask for a lime wedge in my drink. I also work in a bar and I would never treat a customer in such an unprofessional matter. Mistakes like that happen all the time and bar staff should be trained how to handle them correctly. I was very disappointed by her attitude. On the other hand your other bartenders offered a great and friendly service and deserve a shout out (a guy that put my debit card on his forehead and scanned it like that I hope he knows...
Read moreEven though I'm a local, I don't think you could have a better local spot for the travellers in the Hostel next door to stumble into. It's a social basement spot which feels like going back in time while inside a submarine. There's a little kino/cinema section at the back where the odd film is shown, plenty of board games you can pick out (including Cards Against Humanity if you ask) and a back room cranny of Sega Mega Drives preloaded with probably the entire SEGA catalog.
The drinks are as cheap as you can expect for the local area and happy hour is competitive, they serve up a good toastie and they even bring round some salted popcorn with no charge, most of the time.
It has those little touches which a lot of local bars overlook, but still has a good beer and cocktail selection as you'd expect. The decor is actually comfy despite the steampunk/nautical theme which might lead you to think otherwise. Definitely a settle in bar where you can walk back outside and shock yourself with how many hours you've...
Read moreIt potentially is nice but we had a very bad experience with the bouncer and the manager with not a real reason. Our fault me and my friend started to dance on a bench. The bouncer came and told us "you go down or I'll kick you out". fair enough. So we went down and started to dance again. But one of the bouncer took my friend anyway and brought her out. He said because of dancing in the sofa but... Why only her and not me? So we explained it to them and asked to talk to the manager as we found it unfair but the answer was not satisfactory at all. Their behavior was exaggerate for the circumstances. Not very thinking forward because looking at the amount of bars that are in the NQ they need us as customers much more than how we need them as a bar. Of course we will...
