👑 The Best Caribbean Restaurant & Takeaway in Chorlton! 🇯🇲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

"I’ve been searching for the best Caribbean restaurant across Greater Manchester, and Progress Caribbean in Chorlton-cum-Hardy is undeniably the real deal! This review is from my second visit—this time with my three young children on a busy Sunday after mountain biking in Wythenshawe Park (a Wray & Nephew & Ginger Beer was definitely needed! 🍹).

From the moment we walked in, the welcome from Aline, the owner, was warm and genuine. The soft reggae set a perfect vibe. We were seated comfortably, and the hospitality was exceptional.

The food blew us away. We started with fried chicken breast and jerk gravy (so fresh, hot, not greasy, and crunchy!) and had to order more because the kids devoured it! I especially love that the kids menu is the same quality as the adult portions but scaled down. For mains, the children enjoyed the brown stew chicken platters with rice & peas, steamed veg, mac & cheese, and fried dumplings. They loved setting out their own meals!

My Jerk chicken and pepper steak platter was a feast for a king—fresh, hot, and simply delicious. The staff checked on us often, kept the music at the right level, and were genuinely happy, polite, and bubbly—a welcome change from many other Jamaican spots!

For me, the whole experience—the great vibe, food, drinks, and especially the hospitality—makes Progress Caribbean stand out. If you’re riding solo, on a date, or having a nice time with family, I highly recommend it. It is miles ahead of places like The Drop Bar Restaurant and Jerk Junction

Since we were visiting friends who lives in Chorlton, I paid for a Surprise Bag for £4 via Too Good to Go. I've never been to Progress Restaurant & Bar but thought that I'd give it a try. The collection time was from 9pm which was late to be our dinner so I planned it for lunch on the following day.

Wow, wow, wow! The portion size was generous - not only just rice but there was meat too. Like I said, we had it for our lunch. It's enough to feed two people! Oh, I loved the food. It was flavoursome; every bite of it was packed with flavours and I wasn't thirsty afterwards. I enjoyed it very much and told my friends. That's when I learnt that my friend (Thomas Jenkins) has visited here before and he also raves about this place.

I'm looking forward to be visiting Chorlton again and would definitely eat from there either using the Too Good to Go deal or simply eat out with Thomas Jenkins.

When I first tried this food it was delightful. The first bite of the Mac and cheese here is the definition of heaven trust me. Other then the food the service is amazing I won’t even lie as soon as you order food it is there at your table or ready of collection it just amazing. Plus the owner is a very nice and gentle person she is always there to smile and give you a hello which you don’t see a lot anymore in this day and age. Don’t get me started on the atmosphere it is so nice. When you are eating or ordering then is always ways music playing that even on the hardest of days it will boost your mood. Everyone that walks in has a Genuine smile on there face that make you smile. Over all this is a really good place and a muss try believe me. Even for the picky eaters slash me.
