Sunday August 23rd. Arrived at shop just before 7.00am to find three or four customers already waiting for shop to open and then four or five youths had met up together and were now in a queue behind me. Eventually it was my turn to enter the shop and these lads, almost immediately, followed me in. Glancing behind me, with a lot of joking and banter, it was clear there was little socially distancing or keeping to the floor markers. These young people were now totally conspicuous to all occupants in the shop, by the absence of any kind of face covering. The shop was busy, occupied by all ages, some young, some old, but apart from these youths behind me, everyone else was being mindful and wearing a mask. There was zero reaction by any member of staff to those lads and I really couldn't wait to leave. As I left the shop I was met by three customers, still outside and waiting to go in. All three appeared totally critical and frustrated as to what they had just witnessed and one gentleman, in particular, challenged the shop manager, (who had come outside to the back of the shop), explaining that he'd just completed, "Chemo," and feeling absolutely livid that this same manager would allow the safety of, particularly senior and vulnerable members of the community, as well as staff members, to be compromised by a bunch of lads, who's faces should be covered. The manager appeared complacent and casual and replied that he was, "Not allowed to do anything, including restrict entry !" He kept repeating himself, "I'm not allowed !" Even Morrisons, who were so criticised for their "limp" attitude to safety at the start, are now actually handing out masks at their entrance, to those who had forgotten their own. This shop needs to seriously and strictly fall "in line" with guidelines, laid down by Matt Hancock. It's a small shop with limited ventilation and room to manouver and a few strips of tape on the floor is simply, just not enough. This virus still remains totally lethal and Statefayre should place safety first and NOT make up their own rules for the sake of selling a few...
Read moreWow. This place needs to review their staff training programme! Went into a bakery /sandwich shop to support my local businesses. Asked for a cheese salad sandwich. Blank stare. (Maybe it's the mask?) No. Repeated order. Staff member looks down and proceeded to ring up my order - then asked again. They went to get a bowl. No. A sandwich with cheese and salad on it. (This is on the menu and I've bought it regularly before). Arranged something out of view and asked if it was ok. Gave up and said yes. Received an unbuttered bagel with a cheese slice and a vague interpretation of the word salad. (See pic). Cost about £3. Even if the staff member is new, they need retraining in the basic customer service skills like manners, asking for help from their colleagues or even just a 'sorry I'm new' would suffice. Next time will choose a soggy...
