Cheetham Star, Manchester – October 2025 Review Cheetham Star has been recommended to me by friends for quite a while, but unfortunately, it suffered a fire some years back and was closed for quite some time due to extensive damage. Recently, I finally had the chance to visit since it reopened. I ordered the Kobeda on naan, which I’ve tried at many places across Manchester—particularly on Wilmslow Road, where I’ve been visiting kebab spots since the 1990s. Back then, Rusholme Chippy was one of the first and most popular Kobeda places in Manchester, although I believe it has changed ownership since those early days. Cheetham Star has been nicely refurbished and has a clean, modern presentation. The food, on my first visit, was very good—the Kobeda had great flavour and texture. However, on my second visit, I was disappointed to find the meat gritty, with tough bits of cartilage, which spoiled the experience somewhat. That said, I would still recommend Cheetham Star and plan to visit again to try some of their other dishes. I’d suggest to the management that they pay close attention to the quality and consistency of the meat—ensuring it’s free from gristle or bone—and that staff taste-test new batches before serving to maintain the high standard expected.

Fantastic fantastic food! Mouth-watering, well flavoured, fresh.. spices used are simply perfect. I think you should consider opening as comfortable restaurant, as every dish is simply perfect. I stumbled across this restaurant in hurricane style rain one night, and tried the spicy lamb fataya.. it was amazing, I ended up eating them all week. I tried the shawarma, the roast chicken with tomatoes and onions.. a few more dishes I forgot the names of.. everything was simply divine. Highly recommend, don't eat anywhere else, there is no need! Service wise, it would be great to have a staff training day on customers with allergens. My daughter has a severe dairy allergy, we were told by several people the food was dairy free, but then told by one of the chefs who over heard us, that it contains Yogurt, luckily she hadn't had any food, but it could have been bad if she had. Atmosphere wise, the floor is a shiny smooth tile, not great for all for the water that pools, when people are entering in from the rain, its slippery and muddy, and feels very dangerous. I suggest using a mat or a better type of flooring? The other issue I had was the room is completely congested with tables and chairs, its really not great.

Abit on the pricey side for the portion of food and the taste is abit bland. Kobeda was super oily greasy and the naan was small and wafer thin and crispy in the middle - was literally snapping in the middle it was that thin. Why can’t they just make a normal naan with even thickness and softness throughout! Can’t be that hard. Chicken tikka chunks were good sized but considering it was ordered and cooked in under 5 minutes no wonder it was chewy and undercooked. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside - it didn’t get finished. Shawarma - oh my god worst thing so plain ans no flavour at all. Dry and unappetising - with out the sauces this would have been a struggle to eat. Again all the naans were shocking just thick on the edges and millimetre thin throughout the main part of the naan. Chips were nice but they just chips ! £3 chips For 3 naans, chips and 2 drinks the bill was £28 which is too much for small quantity food and not feeling happy after eating. Plenty of seating and tables, clean and parking nearby in Tesco free all the time. Won’t be returning….

This is one busy, clean and good eating place. Whether you are sitting in or taking away the food and service is good. They have a good selection of Salads, which always look nice and fresh whatever time of day you go in. They do a variety of chicken styles; kebabs, fried, grilled, chargrilled, spicy, plain or with chillies, the choice is yours. Lamb is also on the menu, also done in a variety of ways like the chicken. Also a good selection of pizzas and burgers at very reasonable prices. They also have a number of meal offers. I do not recall seeing any fish, seafood or beef on menu of since this is a halal place no pork is sold. You have the option of having nun bread, rice, chips or mixed Salads with your meal. They is a reasonable variety of soft drinks, they could do more and perhaps have healthier options too. This place does get very busy at lunch time and on Fridays just after 2pm and they can be a wait for the food. The food however is freshly prepared, it's tasty, at very decent prices and their potions are very decent. They staff are always nice, friendly and polite. I've knocked off one star due to This is place can be intimidating for a woman or women dining alone as the place is usually packed with only men! And I think they only have one woman working there who I saw briefly taking an order! The tables and chairs are so close together. I suppose they would like to have and accommodate as many of their customers as possible. & They need to increase their...

I loved there chicken shawarma . The food has a variety . You can get all chicken and lamb tikkas ,rosted chicken ,chicken shawarma and rice as well . The service on a busy day is not at all satisfatory as they mess up orders a little bit . But they are co-operative enough to solve your problem . When i went there they gave me chicken tikka instead but then i called them and they told me that i can come the next day to get a free chicken shawarma . But i think its a big hasssle to go back to a place where you are not going afterwards . It would be great if they do deliveries so that they can do something if they mess up a order . The saddest part is they dont do home deliveries which is a downside of this place . They should start this because when there are too many people in the resturants its a full time mess . People sitting there talk in such a loud voice it can give you severe headache !!! There is so much noise that they can not even hear your order properly !!!! They need to start a delivery system . !! This idea can earn them alot of money and this is very good for sale point of view !!! Specially a normal person can not bear this much noise while eating their food . Atleast a petson should eat food in a calm relaxed enviroment ... Otherwise the food is nice and there is a big variety of everything !! But most of the times you cant to there to eat . They should start...
