Spicy Chicken burger/Cheese
Alot of hype around this one. Upon arriving I could clearly see it's the busiest chicken shop on the road.
Really busy inside the shop, always a good sign right? There were mounds of golden goodness all stacked up in the heaters, a pyramid of spicy wings just glistening under the lights I was excited for this one. The staff were hard at work and they seemed very organized and it was like a well oiled machine from paying to receiving the food. I ordered my spicy burger and wings, took my number and waited for my food.
Although really busy the orders are going out super fast my number got shouted after less than 5mins, I took my food and went back to my car. Although they have seating available the shop was so busy I opted for the calmness of the warm car.
🔶 Spicy Chicken Burger
The #burger had some weight to it, so I opened the box to reveal the hot and steamy chicken goodness. The bun was super soft, the spicy sauce was oozing down the sides and a few strands of lettuce were loitering around the sides of the box. The bun was so soft and the sauce so saucy that it became really soggy and the bread was just floppy and not holding up to the amount of meat and sauce that was on there.
I had to use two hands to support this badboy boy before it collapsed all over me and the car seat. The sauce had a really nice spice to it it was hot and reminded me of a buffalo sauce with a nice cayenne/vinegar peppery kick. The chicken was juicy and tender and the batter was thick.
But after just a couple of bites I was hit with that over salty taste, by the time I was more than half way through I was already reaching into the back of my car for my water as it felt like my mouth was completely being sucked if all it's moisture from the sheer amount of salt tat this burger was providing. I finished the burger wow that was really salty and it ruined the flavour of the spicy sauce the experience overall.
🏆5/10
🔶Spicy wings
The #wings were really soft and average in size, it may have looked a great sight to behold a pyramid of spicy wings all cascading down each other soaked in that peppery spice and shining like little nuggets of gold in the blistering sun but in reality the down side is they produce alot of steam and that steam had made them become really moist and again soggy. Flavour was nice that same sauce as the burger a nice spice kick on the back of my throat what seemed to linger for a good 20mins after I had finished up.
🏆6/10
Overall on my experience the food is far to salty and it's a very messy burger to eat. For me this one did not live up to the hype at all and I would not return. Sometimes I feel these places fall victim to social media hype and it gets the...
Read moreWorth every star in my 5 star rating! Travelled 1 hour across the busiest motorways in England for this during peak time. This is how my experience went : I called them up asked the type of payment they take, I was advised either cash or we could do a bank transfer as they don't accept card. When I arrived, there is a bank and cash machine opposite so I went there, and that problem was solved, so ideal location for those who don't carry cash! The shop was well presented and looked really clean and bright. Hand sanitisers and glass screens in line with government guidance during CV19. It was a fast paced environment however the staff were really straight forward and helpful. Food was served within 5-10 mins so the wait wasn't too long. They advised me there was a car park around the back that I could go to if I wanted. Easy to find! The Food - OH MY DAYS. I got the Tower Burger Meal (spicy) which consists of their Chicken fillet, hash brown & onion rings. It's the most juciest and crispy burger I've had in a very long time! The batter on the chicken was cooked in some tingling spices and sauces and it was crispy as well. The chips were fried, light and crispy. The red hot sauce is the same as Florida's in Oldham and not for the light hearted. It can cure and any flu or cold! I enjoyed every, single, bite like it was the first time over and over. I also had the wings which were to a good standard aswell and enjoyed them quite a lot too but In all honesty i was so full by that time. So I had them later on in the night watching a movie! It was my first time at Philadelphia's and I've promised myself to visit them every month! Wish they had a branch closer to home. I would most definitely 105% reccomend this to anyone that's been thinking about...
Read moreIf i could rate this -12/10 I would. Placed an order online via the app and specifically instructed in the special requirements section for ‘no mayo no cheese’ on the tower burger. Went to pick up all the way from Bolton, and checked the burger after picking it up straight away to check just in case. As expected it was wrong and had mayo and cheese on the burger. Went back in and asked Bossman to change this as it is not what i asked for. He apologised and changed it straight away. Again I specified only salad and chilli, no mayo no cheese.
Drove home looking forward to the burger, however once i opened it to take the first bite saw that it was smothered in cheese! Very very very disappointed as I double checked and went back in to change it for what I originally asked for. Rang up the store and was told that allergies don’t matter but what matters is the tower burger automatically comes with cheese and they cannot change this, they even tried to say we didn’t request this on the receipt but it clearly states no cheese no mayo. Now don’t get me wrong the food is great usually when they get it right but a customer service experience like that with no apology even has definitely ended my journey with Philly’s.
P.S Floridas and New york fried chicken is way...
