I recently visited Tibs Tavern Pub with my parents after purchasing a Groupon deal for a meal for four, which included burgers, fries, and beer for each of us. Despite living in London, we decided to make the trip to Tibs for a special evening during our 3 day trip to Manchester, only to encounter some challenges that detracted from our overall experience.
Prior to our visit, I contacted Tibs Tavern to inquire about making a reservation, as recommended by the Groupon voucher. Initially, I was informed that no reservation was necessary. However, upon calling again closer to our visit, I learned that the pub would be closed on Monday and open from 4pm onwards on Tuesday. With this information in mind, we arrived at Tibs around 7pm on Tuesday, eager to enjoy our meal. As Wednesday afternoon was our return date back to London.
Upon entering the pub, we were disappointed to find it crowded with boisterous patrons, creating an atmosphere that was not conducive to a pleasant dining experience for my elderly parents. Despite our best efforts to find a suitable space, the pub was packed on all floors, with most customers engrossed in watching football matches on TV.
After a series of unsuccessful attempts to locate a comfortable dining area, I approached a staff member near the bar for assistance. (Guy about 30yrs old) Regrettably, his response was dismissive and unhelpful, simply pointing + directing me to yet another packed floor without offering any real solution to our predicament. I came back downstairs to the 2nd floor where he responded by saying "well I can't make a space appear for you" the tone wasn't necessary considering I wasn't rude before or after our exchange, in fact that was all the words he spoke to me, the rest was just him on his phone and pointing for me to try upstairs. Luckily my parents didn't have to see this as it would have angered them too.
Feeling overlooked and undervalued as customers, we made the difficult decision to leave Tibs Tavern without being able to enjoy our meal. It was evident that the staff's attention was primarily focused on serving the male clientele, particularly those interested in watching football matches.
While the pub may appeal to football enthusiasts and individuals seeking a lively atmosphere, it is not recommended for those looking for a more relaxed and accommodating dining experience, especially when visiting with elderly family members.
I did have a brief interaction with a more understanding and apologetic individual (mid 40s), whom I believe may have been the manager. It was unfortunate that the same level of understanding and customer service was not reflected by the staff members on the middle floor during our visit.
In conclusion, while Tibs Tavern Pub may cater to a specific demographic, it fell short in providing a welcoming and customer-centric experience for us. I hope that this feedback serves as an opportunity for improvement in customer service and overall customer satisfaction at Tibs Tavern.
We paid for a taxi to get from the hotel, we tried twice to actually book a table to avoid such a situation, and then was met with a packed out pub with not a single available seat and a rude male who just didn't have an ounce of care. Got a refund for Groupon (as credits) and went for a kebab 1/4 of the price. Ashame about the taxi money and waste of our time though. The worst was the I felt embarrassed towards my parents as I was the one who organized it, and felt sorry that we relied on Tibs to provide a table for us on our last night...
Read moreAbout 25 of us (mixed group) went here on a Saturday night to watch the football and boxing. The bar itself is spacious and is a good place to watch sport. One of our group was accused by a bouncer and management of not paying for 2 pints. It was a case of mistaken identity. As it was only 2 pints several of our group offered to pay for the drinks but management wouldnt accept this and were on some strange crusade to place blame. They even took the accused into the office to view cctv footage which proved absolutley nothing. A few minutes prior to this another member of our group was seperatley accused of the great 2 pint robbery of 2018 but after a few minutes was cleared. The two people who were accused look nothing alike. A few minutes earlier to this I spent £75 on a round of jagerbombs as it was a friends birthday and everyone was having a good time spending lots of money. The whole incident was v strange and resulted in all 25 of us (including 2 dogs, who admittedly didnt buy any drinks) leaving the bar. I still dont understand why the offer to pay for the drinks wasnt accepted and why such a big deal was made...
Read moreNice sports bar but the bouncer ruined the night. We booked a booth for 7 but turned up with 6. The 7th of our party turned up 45 mins later having previously been at a BBQ and was refused entry. I spoke to the bar staff to assist who went to speak to the bouncer and the was still refused entry. The 7th of our party had not been drinking but was simply refused entry out of principle of us not telling him he was going to be late. The bar staff did not interject into the situation although she could tell that it was unnecessary. The bouncer was incredibly rude and clearly on some sort of power trip. I was perfectly polite and was approached with aggression to the point I thought I was going to be thrown out. Real shame which ruined what was set to be a...
