I have been calling into Capo Lounge with my husband almost weekly for the past two years and have also visited a number of times with members of a local Mansfield Ladies Group that I run. I always find the staff to be very warm and welcoming as well as helpful and have always received excellent customer service, which is no mean feat when having to accommodate a large group of 16+ lively ladies! As well as calling in for food and drinks (which I highly recommend) our ladies group have also attended a number of fund raising events involving fun bingo and quiz nights, the most recent one being Thursday just gone. The entire event on Thursday evening was hosted by the very lovely as well as humorous CJ… What can I say, as usual CJ was fab and definitely made our night a very enjoyable experience involving lots of good old fashioned fun and lots of laughter, leaving everyone looking forward to attending the next event. Needless to say the rest of the staff on the night were also friendly, efficient and extremely attentive, food served was excellent and the atmosphere and setting was inviting, comfortable and relaxing. So a big thank you to CJ and Emma (who has looked after me and my husband on numerous occasions), the cook for the great food and all the other staff who made our evening a very enjoyable experience… We will definitely be back! 😉

I was definitely the awkward customer when we came last week, sat on the only table with stuff on it but was cleared by one of the lads working, as I do this for a living I did apologise to him numerous times.. But he was very polite and made us feel welcome and always cheery while he served us. I had a large glass of fresh orange juice (slightly on the pricey side? Never order juice but gave it a try) was lovely and refreshing.. also got a flat white to go with our breakfast, went down well too.. we had 2 lounge breakfasts with added black pudding YUM.. lovely cooked eggs too, nice and runny :) bacon a little too salty for me but still nice :) and the sausage patty was so good.. pork and leek I think? Definitely want to go again maybe for lunch or dinner though.. staff were great This place is deciving from outside, looks so small but go in and it's massive and an upstairs too, it's really cozy and I love the decor/style..

The Capo Lounge was recommended by my partner. Her second visit and my first. We were greeted politely by Ellie who, politely and conscientiously asked about any allergies and if we're eating in or taking away. I ordered the bigger breakfast and my partner ordered the stack of pancakes. The food came quickly, hot and as ordered and they were accommodating to specific tastes. The place itself I would call "folksy". It's adorned with art, the low light gives it a hideaway kind of feel and the piped music added to the vibe. Also, as someone who has worked in the bar/restaurant business, it was nice to see individual tip jars rather than a communal pot. I would recommend it and will go again to try out a lunch meal. My one and only little itty bitty note is the toast could've been grilled longer but it was still nice, non the less. 🙂👍

This is an update a few years on from my original fantastic review of capo lounge. I have deleted my good review.

Unfortunately things have gone downhill considerably. My first ever if vegan breakfast from capo was an Instagram worthy plate of food. Legitimately perfect, delicious. The price didn't matter.

A few years later, my big vegan breakfast was hugely disappointing. No mushrooms, bad vegan sausages, tiny tomatoes and even the rubbish new fake bacon was missing. I'm not sure what I paid nearly £15 for.

My partner got a gluten free option (which we didn't order) so there was no flatbread.

My eldest daughter had the cheesy beans on toast that she always has. It was a sad excuse for a meal. The beans didn't even spill over the edge of ONE slice of toast, and the cheese... I ended up giving her my beans as she looked so disappointed (so I had even less food)

My youngest daughter had the kids chicken strips meal and the chicken strip things were so hard she couldn't eat them.

Coffee was cold.

A staff member did bring us an extra vegan sausage and another tiny pot of beans, and the flatbread for my partners meal but it was too little too late in my Opinion.

We paid around £50 for our whole meal and to be honest I feel absolutely robbed.

I'm gutted to say you've lost a customer in me and my family as this isn't the first time there have been issues like this, it's been declining in quality for...

We arrived at around 2:00 p.m. but, despite seeing several empty tables that simply required dirty dishes clearing, we had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. While we waited for a table, several other potential customers arrived, waited a few minutes and the left, obviously not prepared to wait it out.

The food was okay, but (to my mind) was overpriced. £25.60 for two chicken salad ciabata rolls, a pint of shandy and a glass of lemonade seemed excessive. I think (in a pub) you could probably have bought similar for £10 or more cheaper - and would probably get chips with it as well. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus but, since we are none of those, they didn't apply to us.

The waiters do not take orders, one has to go to the bar, order your meal and drinks and then return to your table to wait for it to be delivered. This was not explained to us and we spent another 10 minutes trying to attract the attention of a waiter before a friendly customer on the next table enlightened us.

The 'ambience' is okay, it's unusual and interesting, but I can find that in many other places at cheaper prices. The waiting staff seemed completely disinterested in whether we were enjoying our brief visit or not, we were not asked if the food was alright and beyond actually delivering it to our table they didn't interact with us at all.

We shan't...
