Panda Panda — Restaurant in Mansfield

Wow what can I say, my first time visiting this restaurant tonight. I shall start by saying that I admit the outside of the building looks quite plain, and maybe one of the reasons I've left it to now to visit, but as the old adage goes, one should never judge a book by its cover and this restaurant is an excellent example of that. As I walked through the front door, I was immediately impressed at how bright and clean the place is, the staff are all just so friendly and welcoming, it was really a very comfortable and inviting place to be. I opted for a takeaway box, which was a deep box, allowing for a good sized portion to be taken away. Having eaten many Chinese takeaways over the years, in Mansfield and across the country I would say Panda Panda's cooking is excellent, producing high quality Chinese food in what I would say the standard tried and tested de facto style, with a taste that is how excellent Chinese takeaway food should taste. The sweet and sour was like it should be, the black bean sauce was tasty with a slight kick, the satay chicken was flavoursome and the chicken was nice and soft, great to see they have King Prawns in the shell with salt and pepper, I was very impressed. After hearing comments raving about the new Chinese buffet me and my family decided to check it out. Service is lovely and the atmosphere is excellent the decor is very modern and comforting. The food however, there isn't a wide range of food to choose from as I found there was no prawn dishes or seaweed. I had placed some chicken balls on my plate aswell as the rest of my little family ad they are usually a go to but when I cut through it I noticed that the chicken was pink. I was very cautious and told my family to check there's before they eat it and again there's was pink. Could simply be that the batter was to thick or they had cooked it differently but as a result of pink chicken I will not be returning....

Very friendly staff, not pushy and always willing to accommodate. Relatively small buffet but food is all nice and tasty. Different dishes on different days is a nice touch. Empty plates cleared effectively and the place always seems very clean front-of-house. Atmosphere is nice enough but nothing special. Prices are okay - comparable to a Chinese takeaway for 2 people which for unlimited buffet you can’t complain. May quickly be expensive for large groups though.
