As a long-standing and devoted admirer of Côte Brasserie's exquisite French cuisine, with countless memorable meals savoured at their Mailbox restaurant, the opening of a Solihull outpost was met with eager anticipation. Having just experienced my first visit to this shiny new location, I can confidently say it's a brilliant addition, living up to every expectation and carrying the Côte legacy with delightful finesse!
From the moment you step inside the Solihull Côte, you're greeted with that familiar, inviting ambience – a testament to Côte's consistent quality across its venues. The interior is stylish yet comfortable, with that quintessential Parisian flair that makes dining feel like a special occasion, whether it's a casual brunch or an elegant dinner. It's clear that attention to detail has been paramount in crafting this space.
My loyalty to Côte stems from their unwavering commitment to classic French dishes, executed with a consistently high standard, and this new Solihull kitchen certainly maintains that tradition. Every dish I enjoyed was prepared with the precision and flavour profiles I've come to adore. From the perfectly seared steak frites (a personal favourite!) to the delicate seafood, the quality of ingredients and the skill in the kitchen truly shone through. It's comforting to know that even in a new setting, the heart of Côte's culinary excellence remains perfectly intact.
What truly elevates a Côte experience beyond the superb food is the service. The team at Solihull was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, making my inaugural visit here feel just as cherished as my many at the Mailbox. Their passion for the menu and dedication to ensuring a seamless dining experience are truly commendable.
For loyal Côte fans like myself, the Solihull branch is a triumphant confirmation of everything we love about the brand, now conveniently closer to home for many. For newcomers, it's an unmissable opportunity to discover truly authentic French brasserie dining right here in Solihull.
Bravo, Côte Brasserie Solihull! You've not just opened a new restaurant; you've created another beloved destination for exceptional food and service. I'm already looking forward to my next...
Read moreThe place is generally quite nice and the food wasn't too bad but the service was slow and the food was not quite what was expected. I ordered eggs royale and while acknowledging poached eggs are difficult to perfect I would expect a chain restaurant to have a process in place to deal with it. I had one egg that was overcooked (and solid in the middle, not runny whatsoever) while the other one was undercooked and was watery with far too much of that white bogey like stuff coming out of it.
2/5 stars is probably particularly harsh for the slow service and not quite perfect brunch but what really irked me is that this place is one of growing number of restaurants with the audacity to automatically apply a 12.5% service charge to all bookings regardless of size. I do tip where good service is provided, however, I'm not a fan of this being taken as a given as if the staff know they're going to get a tip regardless what is the incentive to provide that really good level of service which seemed missing for me on this occasion. In this case I paid the tip as I'm not one to cause a stink, which is another issue with this arrangement as if I refused to pay and asked for an amended bill I would have looked like the bad guy despite it being the service that was the problem. For these reasons I will not be returning but, in the interests of fairness and balance the place and the food wasn't that bad, just a shame it left a bad...
Read moreVisited for Sunday lunch,we were seated in the window but the sun was blinding me so I asked to be moved which they did without hesitation. We were sat a few minutes before our server came, she took our drinks and food order at the same time, without writing it down.(which is why I think we didn't get the charcuterie sharer we ordered to start) We opted for the sharing meat board which was accompanied by 2 sides each, this was in the £25pp offer and what I'd consider great value for money. The meat board comprises of chicken pork belly and steak, our sides were green beans and creamed spinach,we chose dauphinoise potatoes,or you could choose fries. Food was excellent, hot and really tasty and plenty of it,portion sizes were great. For dessert we ordered a creme brulee with elderflower and strawberry and a French choux pastry with pistachio and chantilly cream(can't remember the name of it,but it was divine)hence the only picture was the empty bowls! All in all a lovely visit, will definitely be back in the future, the staff were all lovely, friendly and had smiles on their faces, which seems to be a...
