One of the best curries I've ever had. In Birmingham (for the first time) for the weekend for an event at the NEC, and spotted this place nearby; with it's 'amazing' and 'excellent' reviews it stood out, and it certainly didn't disappoint! We had the Kathmandu Special Chicken Curry, and the Home Style Chicken Curry (Nepalese special, and on the bone), Keema Rice, Chilli Paneer and Onions Bhaji's. Everything was indeed amazing, we savoured every bite! The curries were full of different flavours and just delicious. The rice was fragrant and again lots of great flavours. Chilli Paneer was a good portion size compared to many others I've had, and the paneer was fried off with a slight batter (giving each piece a crispy outer, and soft inside), coated in a slightly spicy chilli sauce. Three good sized onion bhaji's (one portion) which as I think I've already made clear along with the rest of the food, full of flavour, plus a good ratio of crispiness on the outside to the softer part in the middle. We called 30mins before arriving to see if a table was available, and where accomodated quickly even though half way through our visit the restaurant had got very busy with other reservations. We were warmly welcomed, attended to frequently by friendly staff, and also had 3 different members of staff come over and ask if our food was ok. Finally we were given a send off by a senior member of staff as we left. Overall an amazing/excellent visit (just as the reviews before described), I wish this restaurant was closer to home as I would be a regular; will be sure to visit again if ever nearby in the future. Thank you!

I saw the reviews on this place and recommended it to my cousins for us to try. So, we visited this restaurant on Saturday 16th March, and we were sooo impressed with the service from the staff AND of course the food was really tasty. Because there were 2 families and little old me, they were able to take our orders on 3 separate bills, which made life easy for us. Most of the guys ordered meat dishes and said it was tasty and well cooked. For me, I ordered veg momos (my fave) and they were really tasty, then I ordered the prawn curry and garlic naan (my usual at any restaurant). The Prawn curry was tasty, and flavourful, shame you only get 5 prawns in the dish - so please Kathmandu please add more prawns into this dish for others to share! As you can tell, I clearly did not share this amazing prawn curry and had it all to myself :-) I however will be returning for my bday in April and will most certainly be asking for more veg momos, prawn curry with extra prawns for me to share with my parents :-) Well done Kathmandu on a very excellent restaurant, staff service and amazing food... I will be returning again and again :-)

Top Flavoursome food, can't fault. We the enjoyed vegetarian mixed grill starter which had three or four different tasty bites including samosa, paneer and soya. Had the lamb karahi main, which served 2, along with garlic and coriander naan and rice. Good portions of curry and so delicious. Ordered a butter chicken curry for the kids, was mild in heat as requested, but overflowing with flavour. Service was top. Will be coming back again. Hopefully found a new gem restaurant for us. Edit for 2nd visit: for a family meal. Group of 20. Sohm and the team here were great. Flawless tasty food. Starters ordered few veg and none-veg mixed grills to share which went down a treat. For mains we had a selection of railway lamb, Kathmandu special chicken, prawn curry and paneer curry, and butter chicken mains, with naan and rice. Each dish was super tasty, delicious. The service was great, nothing seemed too much. Would recommend this place for a meal in, takeaway and larger functions.

🌟 A Hidden Gem in Solihull – Kathmandu Restaurant & Bar 🌟

From the moment we stepped into Kathmandu Restaurant and Bar, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that made our evening truly unforgettable. Dining as a group of four, we were treated not just to a meal, but to an experience that celebrated the rich flavors of Nepalese and Indian cuisine.

🍛 The food was nothing short of spectacular—each dish bursting with authentic spices, vibrant aromas, and beautifully balanced flavors. From the starters to the mains, every bite was a delight. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in crafting meals that are both traditional and elevated.

👨‍🍳 What truly set this place apart was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, kind, and incredibly welcoming. A special mention must go to the owner, Som, whose friendly nature and passion for hospitality made us feel like honored guests. His presence added a personal touch that made the evening even more memorable.

🏆 Kathmandu Restaurant and Bar is, without a doubt, one of the finest dining spots in town. Whether you’re a fan of Nepalese and Indian cuisine or simply looking for a place that feels like home, this is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking delicious food and heartfelt service.

Thank you, Som, and the entire team, for a wonderful evening—we’ll...

A Hidden Gem Right on Our Doorstep!

My wife and I had a sudden craving for momo after months without—and to our surprise, we discovered Kathmandu Nepalese Restaurant just around the corner. Despite never having visited before, we popped in on a Friday lunchtime without a booking and were warmly welcomed by the friendly manager, who immediately made us feel at home and even recommended a delicious Nepalese beer to start.

The restaurant itself was spotless and tastefully decorated, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We began with a shared starter of momo—both chicken and vegetable varieties, five of each. They were absolutely huge, served with a generous helping of spicy dipping sauce. Honestly, some of the best we've ever had.

For our main, we shared the Kathmandu Special Chicken Curry—a house Nepalese dish bursting with flavour, perfectly spiced without being overpowering. Paired with a soft, fluffy garlic naan and a portion of chilli chips (which were spot on), it made for a truly satisfying meal.

Throughout, the manager remained attentive and engaging, even sharing a bit about his background, which added a lovely personal touch to the experience.

All in all, a perfect lunch. Great food, great service, and a new favourite we’ll definitely be returning...
