Having never visited a Miller and Carter restaurant before, I booked a table for myself and my husband to come and try the food. Upon arrival, the restaurant looked extremely busy. Staff were attending to tables and serving food. Our table was booked for 6 pm and we arrived around 5:50 pm. We were given a device and told to come back when it vibrates, so we ordered drinks at the bar. There were no menus available, I asked to see one and once was retrieved quickly for me. Our buzzer went off, and we were seated at 6:03pm, prompt service! A waiter came back to take our food order, which was seamless and straightforward. Our starters arrived, first impressions they looked appetising and nice. We finished and the table got cleared quickly. We then waited for our main courses, which felt like an eternity. People around us who got seated after us seemed to have their food more quickly than we did. With the restaurant being extremely busy, I didn't want to cause a fuss and ask. I gave it another 10 mins or so and then our food arrived...there was a slight issue here, as we had no cutlery...the waitress was getting it for us but started to delivery drinks to tables on her way to deliver our utensils. When it arrived, I had to try and wave someone back to change my steak knife as it looked like someone had been using it to change batteries out of a kids toy...the end of it was bent, quite badly at that. I was made to feel an inconvenience for asking for a tool I needed to eat my meal. The food wasn't anything out of the ordinary, luke warm and certainly not delivered with a smile. We finished our mains and got given a dessert menu. This looked interesting and delightful, I was excited to try the chocolate and gold bar, but couldn't share as my husband doesn't like salted caramel, it was such a shame that it isn't available in a serving for one. We had ordered drinks, but they still hadn't arrived and when they did they came twice. Even though we had only ordered one round of drinks and they were duplicated, we did tell the waiter we didn't want both sets, he said he was going to leave them with us anyway as if he takes them back to the bar, they would be thrown away, he assured us they wouldn't be charged for. We ate our puddings, which were very tasty, we then asked for the bill. It arrived (with the drinks on that we didn't order), we couldn't locate the man who originally served us with them so we reluctantly paid for them, as it would have been our word against a disappeared member of staff. I do feel that our experience of Miller and Carter wasn't the best, and my husband is reluctant to go back. I think staff communication and extra smile training...
Read moreAfter hearing rave reviews from friends, my excitement for a visit to the Resorts World location was high. Unfortunately, what followed was a masterclass in disappointment, turning a planned relaxing dinner into an exercise in patience and frustration. The ordeal began when we arrived, only to be told our table wasn't ready. Fair enough. We returned precisely on time, only to be handed a buzzer and assured it would be "just ten minutes." Ten minutes stretched into an agonizing 35-minute total wait. When we were finally escorted to our seats after 9 PM, we found ourselves staring at a table that hadn't even been wiped, it was a landscape of crumbs and detritus from the previous diners. Already starving, we were once again abandoned. With no server in sight, we had to actively flag down a staff member just to place an order. Then came the second endurance test: a staggering 44-minute wait for the food to arrive. At this point, I was desperately hoping the dishes would be worth the nearly two-hour investment of our evening. They weren't. The food was, charitably, below average. Our starters, the miso pork scallops and the chipotle chicken, were inexplicably stone cold. While the chargrilled vegetables were a genuine high point, they were the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal main course experience. The core issue was clearly a chronic lack of staffing; we even witnessed members of the front-of-house team scrambling to clean tables, a definite sign of chaos. The Silver Lining: A massive thumbs up to the young lads looking after the bar. They were the only team members who checked on us and maintained a genuinely positive attitude while we were stuck waiting. They deserve to be recognized for making the first 35 minutes slightly less painful. Everything that followed, however, demands...

The restaurant itself is lovely – bright and welcoming with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river, which makes for a really nice view while dining. The layout is clean and well thought out, making it a great spot for a date night or group meal if you're looking for something a little more upmarket.
We were presented with the main menu on arrival, which had plenty of choice – not just for steak lovers but also good options for those who prefer other dishes. However, the lunchtime deal was being advertised outside the venue, yet we weren’t offered that menu initially and had to ask for it ourselves. As we were a larger group, there was a slight suspicion this may have been intentional, which felt a little off.
For starters, I had the calamari – it was nice, though the portion size was very large. Next time, I’d prefer a focus on quality over quantity. For mains, I went with the rump steak (medium rare) with peppercorn sauce and a side of skinny fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were delicious – definitely the highlight of the meal.
Our server was fantastic – friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food arrived quickly and while generally good, I’d say it was average overall in terms of flavour and presentation. For the lunchtime menu price, it offered good value, but I wouldn’t be inclined to pay full price for the main menu based on the quality.
Overall, I’d visit again – the atmosphere was really enjoyable, and the service...
