Visited on valentines day. Of course on a busy day like that it was always going to be difficult for the front of house to provide the best service. However, the main problem with zizzi as a whole at the moment is the app ordering. To get the app was easy enough with the bar code on the table with table number. But, ordering is not as personal as you expect from a restaurant. By this I mean when ordering a pizza you expect to be able to customise the toppings as its one of the most customisable meals out there. But the app had no option for this meaning we avoided the pizza. In the end, we ordered the new sharer starter, a beef shin meal with potatoes and ricotta filled tortelloni. The starter was just amazing, beautifully cooked fried calamari, oozy arancini with mozzarella filling, tangy caprese salad and garlicky garlic bread. A great starter to share, for 2 it was a bit much but perfect for 3 or 4. With such a great start we were then let down by the mains. My beef shin was cooked nicely and the broccoli accompaniment paired well, but the cheesy potato that was supposed to come with it was replaced by chips, due to running out. I understand that when you run out there isn't anything to do, however because we ordered on the app no one warned us about this until it arrived, and by then it is too late to change. However, it was the tortelloni that was really disappointing. It came as described, the spicy tomato ragu was tasty, but the filling of ricotta was horrible. It had the texture of strange mash potato and was devoid of taste. Because of this we both decided not to finish our dishes. The saving grace for this visit was the starter and the service we received from a hectic front of house. When we mentioned the tortelloni the manager was kind enough to remove it from the bill, even after resistance from myself. From seeing other tables you could see that the waiter's/waitresses were truly trying their best to save everyone's nights. So I give them 3 stars because the starter was lovely and the staff were doing their best. But the marks are lost with a poor consistency of food quality and an app that needs updating...
Read moreThe Pulled Pork Roma Rustica Pizza was nice. The fact that the dough is stretched out and you can dip it in the garlic infused or chili infused oils on the table is nice. The crackling gives the pizza a nice crunch and the creaminess and pork really compliment each other. If you don't like too much dough, go for one of the skinny pizzas. They might be able to adjust the toppings, but you will need to ask if you want a Rustica pizza on a skinny base.
The Spicy Chicken Pasta is SOOOOOOOO delicious. I cannot stress enough how much my wife and I enjoy this dish. The spice is just right where it's not too strong or too weak (this is opinion) and the lightness yet sharp flavours of the sauce just cut through the pasta into a delicious taste.
We used some of the bread from the pizza on the pasta sauce and it was amazing.
The peanut butter and chocolate desert was amazing. If you like Reece's peanut butter cups, this is similar to it. Not the same by any means, but similar. It is really rich though and if possible, ice cream might help to cut through the richness.
I give this a four star rating because even though the food is good, which it always is for us at any Zizzi's, the atmosphere was lacking. Mainly that our waiter only came by once or twice and didn't make much of a conversation.
The bonus of Zizzi's is that they do accept Tesco Clubcard vouchers which you can quadruple up on. Iff you do want to go, and are on a tight budget, or just want to save money, definitely use them.
Prices are subjective, so please look at the menu beforehand and see if they have any offers on. I'll keep recommending Zizzis and will definitely...
Read moreI'm a massive fan of zizzi and have visited many of there restaurants and sadly to say this is by far the worse, really does let the company down! Staff and seniors very rude and unprofessional, wasn't very busy whilst I was there but still took over 30 mins for my mains to arrive after I finished my starter! When it did come to the table my mum's and sisters was stone cold after being sat on the side whilst my meal was still being cooked!! The vegetables served with mine clearly weren't fresh and food was swimming in the sauce which after having this dish many times is only meant to be a drizzle!! When we did complain our waitress didn't really seem bothered, with a very bad attitude and rolling her eyes! Same waitress with long hair which wasn't tied back which is surely a must when serving food was seen scratching her head and fondling her hair many times whilst we were there! She spoke to supervisor who didn't even attempt to come see us, followed by a conversation with manager who came to us asked our concerns and agreed to take our mains, most of which we left on plates off the bill along with drinks!! I will never visit this restaurant again and I think the company itself need to look into this particular store as it's a shame they are giving zizzi a bad name for 1st timers but also regulars who are used to excellent food and service in there...
