Nando's Shirley — Restaurant in Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

Visited this evening (new years eve). We arrived around 7pm and was taken straight over to a table by the gentleman at the desk. He did explain that there was a 30/40 minute wait on butterfly chicken but everything else would be usual wait time. We didn’t mind the wait as we weren’t in a rush.

I went up to the counter to order at around 19:20 and asked what time closing was. The lady told me they closed at 8pm… so we had 40 minutes to be in & out. We weren’t informed of this when we arrived? I then ordered a butterfly chicken & asked whether the wait would be an issue if they were closing at 8pm. The lady said “we don’t have any butterfly chicken at all”. Another member of staff then came over and said there wasn’t any chicken on the bone available at all either? What sort of Nando’s runs out of chicken?

I get it’s New Years Eve but maybe make the customers aware before they are seated? Rude staff who seem like they don’t give a toss about being there and a wasted journey for us. We ended up going for a lovely meal next door at Fatto A Napoli...

We've been to this location many times before its re-design and never had a problem. Unfortunately, the décor did not save the experience. We arrived around 16:00 to find a queue waiting for seating and a half-empty restaurant. It seems the location is a tad understaffed.

We were seated and ordered through the app. We ordered 2x halloumi sticks and dip, arriving before we got our drink glasses. We had finished our starters before the glasses arrived. Unfortunately, the location seemed to be in short supply in the drinks department, as a third of the drinks dispenser were unavailable, only offering Coca-Cola (and varieties).

We ordered Fino Pitta's, which were great as always. The rest of the experience was okay. Unfortunately, we had a poor experience caused by the spotty service due to the poor team being understaffed.

I look forward to coming back to this beautifully re-designed location. However, I hope more effort is put into recruitment so the...

We walked into the restaurant on a weekday around 4pm and waited to be seated. Despite there being cooks behind the grills who saw us we were left stood there as there wasn't a single member of waiting staff to be seen despite there being several tables dining. Fed up of waiting we took our own wooden chicken & menu & chose a seat. I went to the toilet and 3 wait staff came out of the back at once, one still eating her lunch. We got our food in less than 10 mins after ordering which was great, thanks to the grill staff. Nobody checked on us after. I wanted to take some of my chicken home & we were literally ignored by all the staff after we had finished. They walked past our plates over & over again until eventually I stopped the girl and said 'please can I have a box for this chicken so we can leave' She still didn't take the plates she just gave me a box and walked off. It was like the place was being managed by a team of lazy 14...
